Quoting Robert Rozman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
Hi,
I wonder how do clients sync to same music source ? What should be done
by
client and what by slimserver ?

What has to be done on client to sync properly ?
When thinking as a total newbie I'd guess that they should be in sync if
connected to same stream - but I must be wrong
all clients get their own streams.
syncing means that players have matching streams playing at the same time.
http players cannot be synchronised
softsqueeze and hardware players can, and are set this way via player
settings

Ok, thanks for info.
What I'm trying to know is HOW they synhonize ? Do they talk to each other,
to server - timestamps, ... ? How is sync feature implemented in softsqueeze
?

Thanks in advance,
regards,
Rob.

Hello,
Why do you want to have more players on one single IP?
karel
Hi,
I have multiple sound cards with separate stereo channels feeding whole
house audio (it's much cheaper to buy a soundcard than squeezebox - if
location is not too distant) . I'd be nice if I could run multiple soft
clients each on its own channel...

Is this possible with slim ? How do you cope with similar situations ?
Regards,
Rob.

[slim] Slimserver as multichannel stereo system on single computer

2005-03-15 Thread Robert Rozman
Hi,
I'd like to use Slimserver as server for several independent stereo audio
players on same computer - each playing to its own alsa stereo channel (each
with its own music and web control )...

Is this possible with slimserver ?
Can I have more clients on single IP (same pc for instance) or are players
distinguished only by ip address?

Regards,
Rob.
