[slim] Starting a playlist always begins at the last song played

2011-09-28 Thread SumnerBoy

I am having a bit of trouble when trying to play playlists. I select the
playlist and attempt to 'Play All'. The playlist starts but the first
song is that last song that was playing in that playlist.

It doesn't matter if I try a different playlist and come back to the
one I want, it still won't start from the beginning.

In the web UI I can click on the first song in the list and it will
play from there, but from any other UI (SqueezeCommander or IPeng) if I
select the first song it will play that but nothing else - since I have
the option 'don't play other songs in directory' set.

Anyone else seeing this behaviour (on 7.6.1)?

2011-09-28 Thread SumnerBoy

Yeah I am the same - I generally browse around my collection playing
single tracks, and don't want the rest of the album to play.

So is this just an oversight - if you have this option enabled, and you
try to play a playlist, it will ALWAYS start from the last position? The
only way to start from the beginning being to hit the Prev Track until
you get back to the start?

Ah my bad - I see I can move to the start by clicking the first song in
the playlist, as long as I am in the 'current playlist' view. I was
trying to click the song in the 'playlist viewer', which just replaced
the whole list with the first song - which is in line with my

[slim] Now playing displays *Musical Sounds - Barn Fire* when playing internet radio

2010-03-22 Thread SumnerBoy

Hi,

I have an SBR and Boom setup in my bedroom and kitchen respectively,
which turn on in the mornings (via alarms) and play a local internet
radio station.

If I look on the web UI for both devices, the Now Playing pane
indicates it is playing *Musical Sounds - Barn Fire* even though I am
hearing the radio station playing just fine.

The same is true if I look at the display on the Boom.

Any idea what is going on here? If I click on the title link in the web
UI Now Playing screen I am taken to the correct radio station *Song
Info* in the left-hand pane.

A bit confusing...

Do you have an internal HDD or do you stream from a home server (which

I have been having similar problems with my alarm (on both a Boom and a

time, but they always restart again 12 mins after shut off and go in
indefinitely.

I have contacted support about this and they haven't been able to work
out what is going on. However we have managed to isolate the problem as
being related to Radiotime radio streams only.

Apparently others have been having trouble with Radiotime streams
(according to support) although I haven't seen much traffic on the
forums related to it (i.e. none apart from you).

Try a different internet station, a non-radiotime one, and see if that
helps?

I have just upgraded to 7.2 and am very impressed with the new alarm
functionality. However I seem to be having a bit of trouble controlling
things from the Controller.

When I go to 'Settings -- Alarm Clock' the 'All Alarms' option does
nothing when I click on it - although it shows the '' indicating
further options - I gather this should be the global On/Off alarm
switch?

Also, when clicking the 'Alarm Volume' option I just get a blank
screen.

I had to do a firmware update on my SB3 (which is now 112), but my
Receiver didn't ask for any updates (it is currently 47). My controller
is 7.0.1 r2502M - does this need to be manually updated? What about the
receiver?

Re: [slim] who else would want a slim car radio

2008-05-02 Thread SumnerBoy

I have often wished I could access my SqueezeCenter music library from
my car, usually when driving along listening to the rubbish on the
radio. I did read of someone who setup their car with a low power PC
which would wirelessly connect and sync with their home network
whenever if came into range (i.e. in the garage). It would sync up the
library ensuring your car library was always up to date. This seems
like a pretty good solution. This doesn't give you SqueezeNetwork
access but that could be easily added once decent mobile broadband
becomes available.

I agree that cost would be an issue however with something like this.
Nice to dream but.

[slim] Slow SqueezeBox 3 power-up

2007-05-14 Thread SumnerBoy

Hi, I have noticed my SB3's (I have two, one wired and one wireless) are
taking a long time (30-60secs) to startup when pressing the Power button
on my remote - i.e. going from standby to ON.

I got the latest 6.5.2 nightly build last week to make sure I had the
latest code, but it is still a problem. It seems to be worse when
starting up 'cold'. Once started, I can switch from standby and back
again instantly.

I *think* the slow down may coincide with the purchase of my second SB3
(the wireless one in my bedroom). Is this likely? Is this a known
problem? Is there anything I can do to improve things, as it is very
frustrating when you want to listen to some music and you have to wait
up to a minute before anything responds.

NOTE: the delay is the same on both wired and wireless devices.

Re: [slim] User poll: favourite screen saver

2007-03-07 Thread SumnerBoy

Am I missing something? What exactly is Saver Switcher? I can't find
it in the list of plugins on www.slimdevices.com and I can find no
mention elsewhere on the web.

This sounds like a good tool so any information will be greatly
received!

Cheers,
Ben

Brilliant - thanks Peter. I have downloaded the plugin and will
install/play later on today.

and again...event viewer or log information please.

I think I have found the event viewer log message for my failure. I
have been playing with the Fishbone skin again today and it seems to be
working ok (so far).

Hope this helps.

[slim] Re: Fishbone - the root of all evil?

2007-01-08 Thread SumnerBoy

kdf;168403 Wrote:

Slimserver, prior to 6.5 plugins used custom pages for each skin.
These are no longer required, but were left behind accidentally during
the 6.5.0 install. Getting rid of the plugins folder and re-installing
would clear this up. 6.5.1 builds take care of cleaning up this mess.

My bad - earlier I stated I had 6.5, I actually have 6.5.1 10738 (a
relatively recent nightly build).

I only installed SlimServer late last year and have only ever had 6.5.1
installed - i.e. no previous versions.

I will let you know if I see this problem again and try and provide
more details.

Thanks for your help in this!
