Which Pi's? Which Screens? The screens I looked at online seemed quite poor. I use the PiCorePlayer distro on a Raspberry Pi 3 or 4. I found the native DAC on the Pi is a bit noisy. So for places I don't care as much, I will use it. In places I do care, I will get a better DAC HAT to install. Re: [slim] Squeezebox and Ubiquiti
Are you running real Squeezeboxes or something more modern? If the older units, then getting AC access points (AP) are not going to help as the older Squeezboxes don't support AC. It will force the APs into "N" or a slower protocol. I would also look around and see if you are getting interference by other APs. Likely you are using 2.4GHz so there is a bunch of things on that band that can also cause interference like cordless phones, microwave ovens, Bluetooth. There are "sniffing" applications you can run on your Mac or Windows box to see if you are seeing interference from other APs. WiFi Explorer for the Mac or WiFi Analyzer for Windows. While there is the newer NanoHD AP's, I've read that the UAP-AC Long Range works well with devices that have weak 2.4 radios in them. What does everyone think? If I were to upgrade specifically for my Squeezeboxes, what would you do? kllngtme's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30198 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111903 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] piCorePlayer advice needed
I have been pretty happy with my PiCorePlayer. I did a blog entry on it at https://blog.lns.com/?p=151 The way I got this going was to plug the Raspberry Pi plug into my wired network, log int and have it look for my wireless network, select the SSID and put in the creds (PSK). Save and reboot w/o having it plugged into the wired network. Did you get that far? Re: [slim] Secondhand market
I am running PiCorePlayers around the house. You can see the details and cost of what I did for a "deluxe" PiCorePlayer at: https://blog.lns.com/?p=151 But you cal also build a basic one out of a $35 Raspberry Pi using power speakers. One of my "setups" is just that. Tim On 10/20/19 8:44 PM, w3wilkes wrote: > > The PiCorePlayers are cheap and easy enough to build which should carry > this platform for the foreseeable future.
