[slim] MusicIP: Watch List Playlist?
Obviously I use MusicIP. Everytime I do a scan for new music I get a MusicIP: Watch List entry show up under my playlists (although it is not physically in the folder where I keep my playlists which are created either with Winamp or Squeezecenter). It's huge (i.e. thousands of songs). An upgrade to 7.2 caused my last.fm plugin to stop submitting as well. I have not reported this as a bug yet--you're the first person I've heard of that's having this same issue. After a few more clean installs, my icon is still frequently red (I'd say even usually), but the music keeps playing and my MiP mixes work well so I'm going to leave it alone at this point. Something is definitely a bit off though. [slim] Two separate problems...
...which probably merit separate threads, but I'll chuck them both in here. First, and hopefully the easiest: I upgraded to Squeezecenter 7.1.1 - 22254 so that I can use MiP (I used the nightly build to get around the volume issue). I did a clean install of it. The controller is running 7.1 r2749. I'm able to make one mix--it works great. Any additional MiP mix I try to create just makes a blank playlist (i.e. brings you to a MusicIP Mix page with an option to Play This List, but there are no songs). This failure to make a 2nd mix occurs with 100% reproducibility so I hope I'm just doing something wrong. Now for the second larger issue: I've spoken with tech support several times and they have been helpful, but the problem persists. I'm on my second duet controller. The first worked flawlessly, but the screen was going bad so I was sent another. I've had nothing but problems with this new one. 90% of the time, the wireless signal indicator is red. However, I can still browse and play music--it's telling me it's not connected, but obviously it is. The other 9% of the time, it's blue and getting it to reconnect to the server is a nightmare. 1% of the time it's white, but the functionality does not differ at all from when it's red. Because Logitech sent me this new remote before I sent the old one back, I had a week to use them both. The old remote never exhibited this behavior--I believe it is clearly an issue with this new remote, but I'm looking for opinions on that. I was using 7.1 beta and, at tech support's request, did a clean install of 7.01. This appeared to resolve the issue for a few days, but the problems started back up again. I was hoping that 7.1 would resolve this, but it has not. My setup is completely wireless, I have never experienced music dropout and the router is very close. I can not see how this is a router issue since I had two remotes to play with and the first never had these issues. Anyone have any ideas? Should I try for a 3rd remote? If it just stayed red all the time, but still worked, I guess I wouldn't worry about it (although that seems to indicate that something is wrong), but it's the times when it loses it's connection to the server that drive me nuts. I assume you mean actually adding the analysis to the tags instead of just storing it in MiP's database? If so, then yes, I have done that and Squeezecenter did import the MiP tags (a very lengthy process). It works perfectly for one mix, then stops making any further mixes unless I reboot the remote. I've had the squeezebox duet for about 3 weeks now. I had been running slimserver/sqeezecenter for quite a while for remote streaming, so there was really little for me to do to set it up. It was fairly easy and really worked flawlessly (including the MiP mixes) for a week. I've had to exchange the remote because of a bad screen and nothing has worked correctly since... If I put the remote down and stop playing music for more than 20 min or so, the remote loses connection to the server (red light on the wifi strength indicator on the remote), but never my wireless. 50% of the time I have to shut the remote off and turn it on to have it connect (choosing player doesn't work). The other 50% of the time, I can actually browse and play music even the icon is still red--this never changes back to white either. Now I can't even reboot the remote--it gets hung on the Goodbye screen and I have to pull out the battery. Other problems: I can no longer use a password (it worked fine with my first remote) on Squeezecenter. This is a problem because I use it for remote streaming. It'll prompt me to enter username and password and then just go in a loop where it keeps asking me over and over until it hangs. Currently I'm not using a password at all. And finally, I'm able to make a single MiP mix. Every single mix I try to create pulls up and plays the first MiP mix I made--this occurs even if I clear the first mix. What's so frustrating is that this product really was working flawlessly, with the exception of a bad screen on the remote and now it's virtually unusable. I've also tried uninstalling both squeezecenter and MiP and doing a full scan which didn't help either (oh yeah, clear libary and rescan doesn't work either--I have to blow away the database manually.) I was afraid of that...I now have two remotes here...tech support is going to kill me when I call them again:) Any thoughts on the MiP mix issue (playing the first mix I make over and over instead of making a new one)? [slim] Duet and Music IP Mixer
Sorry if this is already posted somewhere on the forums, I couldn't turn up much with a search. I've been using Squeezecenter for remote streaming to work and finally got MiP working (sometimes, sorta...). Currently, at work, I'm forced to log into Squeezecenter to make my mixes (I can't seem to find the option to do this with any of the softsqueeze skins). I've never had any experience with the hardware though, but am thinking of picking up a duet. Thanks, that's good to hear it's in the works for the duet controller. I don't have any little MM symbols in any of the softsqueeze skins. All songs do have the MM in squeezecenter though. I followed your directions using the transporter skin and was able to make a single MiP mix. I've tried repeating holding play though for several other songs and it just pushes me into a screen that says Save Current Playlist As: I can't seem to make mixes from softsqueeze any more. 95% of the time though, even trying to make a MiP mix in Squeezecenter produces a MusicIP Mix page that just says empty. Sometimes repeatedly pounding away on the MM on the same song will eventually produce a mix, often it won't. The integration between MiP and Squeezecenter is decidedly buggy. Of course, MiP as a stand along app is decidely buggy so I guess one can only expect so much.
