[slim] streaming AAC files in native format

2006-06-28 Thread b_prem

Hi all,

I need a clarification about streaming AAC files in native format, from
the slimserver.

We are planning to stream AAC files in native format without any
transcodings. Does Slimserver support streaming AAC files in native
format without any transcodings?

Could you please clarify me regarding this.

[slim] Re: streaming AAC files in native format

2006-06-28 Thread b_prem

To stream AAC files from slimserver(version 6.2.2) in native format
without any transcoding, I disabled the following, and restarted the
slimserver.

File Format Stream Format Decoder

Apple AAC, Lossless or Movie File AIFF mov123
Apple AAC, Lossless or Movie File FLAC mov123/flac
Apple AAC, Lossless or Movie File MP3 mov123/lame

I chose an AAC file, ending with the extension .m4a, and clicked
Play. The Play option is not getting enabled and the streaming is
not taking place in the native format, without any transcoding.

This is the issue, i face here.

[slim] WMA streaming in native format.

2006-02-04 Thread b_prem

Hello all,

I try to stream a WMA file in native format from Slimserver. We are
using a custom written client for that running in Windows.

For this in the convert.conf, we added the line

wma wma * *
-

But still, the slimserver is not sending the start command in the strm
message and it is not streaming the file.
1. Are there any other options available to do this?
2. What are the WMA file type (lossless/ lossy) supported now? If so,
shall I get any file / file specifications, which has been tested by
you?

Please give your suggestions.

[slim] Re: Playing WMA in native format.

2006-02-02 Thread b_prem

Hello Ceejay,

The problem is streaming WMA files in native format. I donot want
transcoding the WMA files into MP3 format.

I could not download Slimserver 6.2.2, because, when I tried
downloading from this link, I get only 6.2.1 version for Windows.

I chose the following settings to stream WMA files in native format
into the SoftSqueeze 2.2, from Slimserver 6.2.1.
For this, I chose the following settings: ServerSettings -- File Types
--FileFormat=Windows Media, StreamFormat =Windows Media,
Decoder=Windows Media.

Now, I tried playing the WMA file in the softsqueeze2.2, by clicking
the Play option for the WMA file. Now, I get the following error
message in the softsqueeze User Interface.

-
PROBLEM: CAN'T OPEN FILE FOR:
(The media name)
-

[slim] Re: Playing WMA in native format.

2006-01-31 Thread b_prem

Thanks Ceejay.

1. Apart from the using Softsqueeze 2.2, i have also used a client
written by me, with which I read from the slimserver. When ever I
clicked a WMA file, I get a stop slimproto command. Also when I read
the HTTP stream, i get only zero bytes. Slimserver is not at all
streaming this WMA file.

Have you tested this scenario.( ServerSettings -- File Types
--FileFormat=Windows Media, StreamFormat =Windows Media,
Decoder=Windows Media; )

2. Does it mean that, Slimserver does not stream in native AAC format?

Please give your suggestions.

Thanks Ceejay for the update on AAC.

Also, have you tried streaming WMA, with the settings which I have
specified. Are you able to stream with those settings?

ServerSettings -- File Types --FileFormat=Windows Media, StreamFormat
=Windows Media, Decoder=Windows Media.

2006-01-30 Thread b_prem

Hello All,

1. I tried playing WMA in native format, in Squeeze-box 2.2
and Slimserver 6.2.1. For this I chose, ServerSettings -- File Types
--FileFormat=Windows Media, StreamFormat =Windows Media,
Decoder=Windows Media; When, I clicked play from the slimserver, the
Play option is not getting enabled. Also, the Squeezebox reports,

-
PROBLEM: CAN'T OPEN FILE FOR:
(The media name)
-

Can anyone giving suggestions, on how to enable this WMA streaming to
work?

***

2. Also, files ending with .AAC extensions (ie., MEDIA.AAC) are
not getting listed in the Slimserver. Doesn't Slimserver support
streaming these files?

[slim] Streaming in the Wave Format.

2006-01-10 Thread b_prem

Hello all,

I have started streaming the Wave files without any transcoding.
Slimserver sends the sampling rate as 44.1khz in the strm message, for
all the files, even if they are of different sampling rates. Shall i
know the reason behind this.

Or any modifications are to be done.

2005-12-19 Thread b_prem

Hello All,

I am planning to stream a WAVE file, in native WAVE format, from
Slimserver 6.2, into my custom windows based client.

For this, in the server settings, I chose the file and streaming
formats as WAV, and also added a line in the convert.conf file, wav
wav * *.

Now, when I chose a wave file, and clicked play, the play option is
still intact.

Also, the streaming of the wave file in wave file is not happening. I
downloaded the stream and named it into a wave file, and tried playing
it. I am facing problems.

Can anyone help me on this.

[slim] Streaming WMA files in non-slim cliients like Winamp and Windows Media Player.

2005-11-14 Thread b_prem

I recently installed Slimserver 6.2 and tried playing WMA files streamed
from the Slimserver6.2 in WinAMP/Windows Media Player. But the media is
not played by the WinAMP/Windows Media Player. Do anyone face the same
problem?

I have not installed LAME in the PC running slimserver. Is that the
reason? Does Slimserver require LAME to be present in the PC to stream
WMA files to non-slim clients like WinAMP/Windows Media Player?
