Re: [slim] PC to MAC using QNAP for Slimserver/SlimCentre
cmkcambridge;321712 Wrote: I have my music stored on a QNAP and previously used my PC (Explorer/File Manager) to drag ripped music from the fie on my PC over to the QNAP/Slimserver. I have now bought an iMac and have some music on iTUnes on the Mac but can not find anyway of copying these file to the QNAP. Help PLEASE The QNAP (as long as it's set up correctly on your network) will appear in the iMac's Finder window under Shared. If you do not need a username and password, your ripped music can just be copied over to the QNAP, otherwise enter the username and password to gain access to the folder. Better still, if you are using iTunes to rip, why not point iTunes directly to the folder on the QNAP where your music normally lives saving the time having to transfer it? Go to Preferences / Advanced / General / iTunes Music Folder location. -- cashman cashman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2585 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=50091 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Well, I love my SB3 too, however the only _wireless sound card_ I know of is this http://www.sondigo.com/sirocco/overview Apparently, it will play any audio the PC can play including DRM. -- cashman cashman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2585 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29402 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Logitech to acquire Slim Devices!
And to think that I just bought a Logitech 880 last week to enhance my SB experience I've used Logitech mice for years - they are great products. Sorry, but I just can't get enthused about Logitech high-end audio gear. Don't get me wrong, I'm always Mr Glass Half Full Optimist - I just hate to think that something will have to be sacrificed in order to gain mass-market appeal, be it audio quality, build quality, etc. I'm sure with their economy of scale, Logitech can make the products cheaper - hopefully not make them cheap. I wish the Slim Devices crew all the best and hope that we can see some great new products coming soon. -- cashman cashman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2585 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28821 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Transporter vs ??
Well, I actually own one of these and although it's a very new product on the scene, I can tell you that it is very promising. The UI needs LOTS of work, but it will operate over UPnP and access a UPnP NAS directly (I have an Infrant ReadyNAS NV using same music library for my SBs) and it will play FLAC, AAC, MP3 and a couple of other formats. I'm told this has been designed as an audiophile device (it runs a Wolfson DAC) but I have not done any A/B comparos yet. It is primarily for video and no, you cannot stream HD video at high bit rates over 11g - it just doesn't work. Even ripped DVDs have trouble over 11g. But with a wired Ethernet connection, HD video on a HD panel is just stunning :) And yes, it's very heavy! -- cashman cashman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2585 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28615 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Strange SlimServer/SB2 Behaviour
Thanks Daniel. My mistake! It is indeed user/Library/SlimDevices. Yes, I have removed the preference file also, restarted, etc. Exactly the same OS on my iBook and it works perfectly I'll keep plugging away and see what gives. Thanks again. -- cashman cashman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2585 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=18718 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Strange SlimServer/SB2 Behaviour
Hi All, My SB2 and SlimServer have been working beautifully for a while now. But I have had to reinstall Mac OS X.4 (with 10.4.3 update) on my mac mini and although SlimServer (6.2.1) starts up and is otherwise functional via the web interface, the SB2 just can't connect to it - even when the firewall is disabled. Network is ethernet only. Additionally, the folders contained within user/library/slimserver/ are completely empty! Total size for the /slimserver/ folder is reported as 16k. I'm sure that's not right. I have deleted every reference to slimserver, etc and reinstalled a couple of times now. I have also performed repair permissions using Disk Utility. Still the same problem. Slimserver 6.2.1 works fine on my iBook and the SB2 can connect perfectly. Any help would be appreciated. -- cashman cashman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2585 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=18718 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
