Just received my new Squeezebox. It's a beauty. However, I am having some problems getting it to connect. 1. What is the sequence to reset the squeezebox to factory settings? 2. What are the settings for the Firewall? I have added the 2 ports however, it wants either TCP or UDB. I selected TCP but don't know if that is correct. 3. The Squeezebox never connects. I have entered the IP address manually for the slimserver but still nothing 4. SlimServer itself keeps shutting down. It starts for a while and then I get Page Cannot Be Displayed and am required to restart SlimServer. Ok, I added the ports as you have them listed which didn't do anything. However, I then added slim.exe to the program exception list and for a brief moment it connected to the squeezebox before the slimserver software shut down (page cannot be displayed). The event viewer shows the following twice. I have rebooted the machine and SlimServer now communicates with the Squeezebox. However, after playing for a short while SlimServer shuts down (page cannot be displayed). When clicking on the system tray icon it indicates that SlimServer is indeed shut down and gives me the option to start it again. This is really annoying. - the wrong artwork cover.jpg showing under Browse Artwork, when the album folder that plays indeed has the correct cover art. - numerous albums being listed twice under Browse Artwork with half of the tracks showing up in each - cover.jpg not showing up under Browse Artwork when there is indeed a cover.jpg within the folder. This happens so much that I find it hard to believe that it is only me that has issues with displaying album cover artwork (cover.jpg) with SimServer. I also downloaded and installed ID3TagIT3. It also shows the track tags correctly. EZ CD-DA Extractor has the option to ENABLE ID3V1 ID3V2. Both are enabled by DEFAULT. Which one should I select when ripping? Here's something new. As the album in question here is an Ambience/Dance compilation I decided to try creating a Single File Output Create Cue Sheet so that there are no dead spaces between tracks as all the tracks on this CD go right into the next. SlimServer sees the single .mp3 file and understands the Cue Sheet and lists all the tracks in the correct order. However, now SlimServer does not see the cover.jpg cover art in the folder. I have told SlimServer to rescan for new changes, dump the library and rescan and also have deleted the .sql file and had SlimServer rescan everything. I have ripped 3 of my Trance/Dance CDs as one file (using Easy CD-DA Extractor). It allows me to rip the CD into one file and also create a Cue file that lists all the tracks. This way there are no dead gaps between tracks as one track blends right into the next as the CD does. SlimServer sees the mp3 and cue file just fine and lists and plays all the tracks. The issue is that SlimServer no longer sees the cover.jpg ablum artwork when browsing by Album, Artwork, Artist or Folder. However, the artwork does display when playing the album. How have other's fixed this issue? Hi snarlydwarf I have done a rescan, dump the library and re-scan and also deleted the .sql file and did a rescan. It still does not show up. Hey ceejay, I am using method 2, browsing via Artwork to the album and playing. As I mentioned earler, when I browse to the album and open it, all the tracks display in correct order. However, when I tell it to play is when the order is not in sync. I did check the tags and they have the correct numbers associated with each track. The format is MP3. I am using a program called THE GODFATHER to confirm the tag values. I have tried Mp3Tag before but found that it rescans the music folder each and everytime it is launched which takes a considerable amount of time. It also is much more combersome to use than The Godfather (harder to find the albums). I have just downloaded and installed it again. It also confirms the tag information is correct. One of my ripped albums does not play in the correct order. There are 12 tracks and instead of playing 1 through 12 in order, it plays 1, 12, 2 - 11 (2 through 11 are in order). The player is not set to play in random order. The tracks are listed in order when browsing the album, just not when playing it. This was not happening prior to the upgrade to 6.2.2. There are 3 albums that are affected by this. One is a complilation album and the other 2 are greatest hits albums. I have many other complilation and greatest hits albums that are not affected. I did check the tags after the suggestion last evening and you are correct. On these 3 albums they were all out of whack! I ripped these albums quite some time ago using Windows Media Player as I always do and as mentioned had no problems with them prior to the upgrade to 6.2.2 and then still worse in 6.3. I re-ripped them last evening with EZ CD-DA Extractor, rescanned the library and presto! All is good once again. [slim] Same album repeated 3 times
Since upgrading to 6.2.2 I have seen a number of my albums listed more than once under BROWSE ARTWORK. One album in particular contains 20 tracks. It only has one folder for all the tracks. However, under BROWSE ARTWORK is shows the album 3 times with 5 of the tracks under the first one, 5 under the second and 10 in the last. The track do not follow sequence in either of the 3 itentical albums. I have deleted the DB 3 times now and the same things shows up after SlimServer rescans each time. Where is the DB located in 6.2.2? I would like to delete it and have SlimServer re-scan all of my music. Thanks. Looks like after deleting the DB, Slimserver automatically upon launch rescans the music folder.
