I suspect so too. I have both my touch and Radio connected to my local

after I installed new releases of LMS. So it appears that Touch and
Radio get their firmware files from some other server out there.

Add the controller to that as well. Duet Receiver appears to get
firmware from LMS but Duet Controller appears to get it from a server
out there !!

I actually haven't seen a lot of people criticizing the Receiver for
not having a display, after all, there are Squeezeboxes who do. To the
contrary, I've seen a lot of people complaining they can't get a
Squeezebox _without_ a display anymore since the Receiver was
 discontinued.
The one big issue with the Receiver was that it was hard to set up.

+1. I wish they would introduce a Recevier 2. We need a headless unit
again.

[slim] When can we get an iHeartRadio Plugin?

2011-12-10 Thread jwagner010

Logitech: When will we see an iHeartRadio plugin? Sonos has had one out
for a while now, and in the US market at least clearly has an edge in
terms of availability of content

Everyone else that wants iHeartRadio: please take the time to go over
to logitech's Bugzilla site and login and vote (this is different from
commenting) for this plugin.

Re: [slim] Logitech simply cancelled my order

2010-10-26 Thread jwagner010

The squeezebox works for me, and I take it for what it is. If you need
customer service or support buy the Sonos, Logitech has some of the
worst customer service in the industry from my experience. They are a
company that grew up mass producing keyboards, mice, remotes, etc.
They don't have the heritage or culture for good customer service
around a software product. Just my two cents.

Re: [slim] IPv6 Support

2010-08-17 Thread jwagner010

A poll associated with this post was created, to vote and see the
results, please visit http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53800

Question: Should IPv6 be supported?

- Yes
- No
- I Don't Really Care
- What Is IPv6 Anyway?

I would prefer the developers focus on gettig a bug free 7.6 out soon
rather than getting distracted from something like this.

Re: [slim] Logitech website

2010-06-08 Thread jwagner010

Yeah I agree but the scrolling is the least of their problems. Their
website just shows a bunch of 'Wi-Fi Music Players', they don't educate
people that this is a system and how all the components work together.
This is a case study in the making of the worst marketing / transaction
integration I have seen. Logitech knows how to sell Peripheral / Add on
devices (mouse, keyboard, remotes, etc) they don't know how to sell
systems and educate buyers on systems / eco systems. This spells bad
news for the future of the squeezebox as much of the value in the
squeezebox is the system (how it works together) and the community
around it that drives innovation and continuous improvement.

I predict the squeezebox line being dumped by logitech in 18 to 24
months, hopefully we have a management buy out and the old slimdevices
crew getting back together to rescue it.

Re: [slim] Playlist Name Changes by Itself

2010-02-03 Thread jwagner010

Today I contacted Logitech Support on this issue and was informed they
would not help me with this problem because Squeezeserver was running on
a Synology (Unix) NAS and they don't support this NAS. I pointed out
its not NAS support but SqueezeServer application support. They
wouldn't listen. This never would have happened before Slim Devices was
purchased by Logitech. Big brother has started to make its stamp. I
cannot even say its bad customer service, the fact is they refuse to
give Customer Service / Support. Shame on you Logitech. You have lost
me as a customer on all your products. Shame Shame Shame on you. Any
potential purchasers be aware and think twice about the SqueezeBox
platform.

[slim] Playlist Name Changes by Itself

2010-01-28 Thread jwagner010

I am running 7.4.1 on a Synology NAS. I have one single playlist
defined on the box called Rock it Out. The name of the playlist
changes itself to Yahoo! News: Business after a few days. I change it
back but then a few days later it is changed back to Yahoo! News:
Business. What is going on? Why is the SqueezeServer changing my
playlist name to Yahoo! News: Business?

This is really annoying.

Re: [slim] Ceiling Speakers to Connect to Squeezebox Receiver

2009-04-06 Thread jwagner010

Thanks for the quick replys. I agree building an Amp into the receiver
would make this a no brainer in my purchasing decision. I will check
out the AudioSource AMP 100 in the interim. If others have other cheap
Amps with auto detection of signal let me know.

[slim] Ceiling Speakers to Connect to Squeezebox Receiver

2009-04-06 Thread jwagner010

I would like to connect a set of in ceiling speakers or in wall speakers
to a Squeezebox receiver and then use the Squeezebox Controller to
control the music delivered through the speakers. However, I notice
that the Squeezebox receiver requires connection to an AMP or powered
speakers. Seems like I will need to buy and install an AMP and put it
between the speakers and the Receiver. However, this becomes another
device I need to manage and I would just like to use the one controller
in this case the Squeezebox Controller.

Has anyone got suggestions for my setup and keeping things simple (I am
not a big fan of the Boom)?
