[slim] Automating Player Synchronization
I've got hardware and software players around the house. I have iPeng and Squeezepad. I have a heck of a time keeping everything in sync, even with all the manual adjustments one can make on the server side. Are there any iOS apps that will make use of the devices mic, and listen to the out of sync players -- and send correction data to the server and get them all in sync? This would be a killer app! -- nathan_h nathan_h's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22786 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87748 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Automating Player Synchronization
I'm not sure what too many variables means, but I count two adjustments that should be able to compensate for all the variables at a given point in time: Player Start Delay (ms) Player Audio Delay (ms) It would be great for an iOS device to measure the actual output of all the devices, and adjust the two variables based on current actual conditions (ie, taking into account the end result of too many variables). That is, other variables can likely be compensated for with these two adjustments -- and as those other environmental factors change, if the system isn't smart enough with the settings listed below to self-correct, the user could walk around among the different zones/devices and use the iOS app again, to get things back in sync. It wouldn't be a set-and-forget operation, but it would be much faster than typing in numbers into the web interface, hoping to dial things in. --- Separately, there are two user-adjustable preferences about how often to address sync issues that the server detects: Minimum Synchronization Adjustment (ms) Network Packet Latency (ms) For extra credit, the iOS device could allow adjustment of these -- either recommended values or something fancier. -- nathan_h nathan_h's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22786 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87748 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Happy to provide whatever info might be useful. This is a mixed environment. Two sb receivers that are wired, one wireless boom and one wireless sb3. Clearly the ipad screen is smaller than the 17 sooloos control 10, but if the album art is a bit smaller, then i'm sure the same effect can be achieved. The image below is much smaller than the ipad screen! Re: [slim] iPeng on iPad - How should it look like?
One thing that gets me down about existing interfaces is an inability to do more complex searches. For example, say I want to listen to The Kinks, but not one of my lossy files, only a lossless file, and nothing later than 1970. Love to see the new real estate make searches like that possible -- like filtering results. -- nathan_h nathan_h's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22786 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74581 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Announce: Album Catalog Creator v3
Version 3.x uses a different ODBC driver than version 2.x. Details on the web site. I don't know whether this is the problem BUT if you didn't install the newer ODBC driver, give that a try. -- nathan_h nathan_h's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22786 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74452 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] SqueezeCenter shows 0 artists
I too have this problem. All the tracks and albums are showing up, but zero artists. This happened even when I uninstalled AVG so there was no antivirus software interference. I'm using server version 7.4.1 on a Windows 7 box. -- nathan_h nathan_h's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22786 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47532 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Thanks for the reply! SilverRS8;510048 Wrote: Have you downloaded and installed the v5.1 version of the MySQL driver from the MySQL site (other versions will not work)? I downloaded version 5.1.6 and ran the bat file (install.bat). Is there a way to tell whether it's really installed after running that? If you have a 64 bit version of Windows running you must download and install the 32 bit MySQL driver. The 64 bit one will not work. 32 bit Win7 so should be okay there. If you are running ACC on the same machine where SBS is running, do not configure the remote server settings. How do I zero them out? I tried removing everything but the drive letter won't disappear. -- nathan_h nathan_h's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22786 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74452 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Announce: Album Catalog Creator v3
This looks great but I reviewed the HELP screen and cannot solve the data source name error I get when trying to run it. I have downloaded and installed the MySQL ODBC driver using the Install bat file, on the same Windows7 machine where I have Squeezecenter running. Is there a more detailed instruction / install / troubleshoot doc/discussion? -- nathan_h nathan_h's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22786 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74452 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

The problem with Simplify is that is down rezes flac to below 200 kbps, otherwise it's not a bad solution -- though of course it's outside the Slim eco-system. (This downrezzing isn't just for the iphone client. Same thing happens on the desktop.) I'm real tempted to open up port 9000 on my router and connect remotely that way, using the SC password. Yes, I understand it's not particularly secure BUT if it gets compromised, what's the damage potential? Someone else listening to my music collection? Or?
