Nice to see those old SB3s kicking along. Postage to Australia makes it better for me to look on Gumtree (Craigslist) or local ebay, but the thought is appreciated. redgum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13679 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113160 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] iPhone 5 Remote Controller / Player
Thanks for the advice - particularly putting a shortcut to the home screen for the material skin. That works great. Not sure I can get it working as a player easily. I did think I might be able to get the iPhone to behave like it is a Airplayer with a different app. But it looks a bit difficult. The other thing I did in Safari was to open to :9000/stream.mp3 This seemed to identify the 'player', but I couldn't get it to play anything. [slim] iPhone 5 Remote Controller / Player
Hi I have an old iPhone 5 that I would like to use as a remote controller / player. This iPhone can not be updated past iOS10, so the app store is not very usable any more. Otherwise I would get iPeng Classic. I do have IPeng Classic for iPad - but this will not install on the iPhone. Any suggestions for other apps or workarounds ? Re: [slim] Classic Dead - What to replace it with...
Thank you for your replies. It seems low risk to try out a basic RPi with piCore Player as I already use IPeng and Orange Squeeze as controllers. It would appear to be the cheapest option too :) redgum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13679 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103413 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Classic Dead - What to replace it with...
My SB3 has died. Well, not completely. But I have tried new power supply, removing wifi card and other waving dead chicken suggestions. My choices appear to be: 1. Take it to local hifi repairer. This would appear to have an uncertain outcome and cost me upwards of $80. 2. Buy a second-hand SB3 on ebay. These appear to go for around $100. Still not certain how long it will last as these appear to be getting old and failure modes appear to be developing (capacitors etc). 3. Buy a cheap android tablet (or android phone) and run SqueezePlayer on it. About $80 for a cheap new 7" tablet. The SB3 is in my study connected to some cheap speakers so I'm tempted to go this direction. 4 .Buy a second hand Ipad (and run Ipeng). Various prices on ebay. I'm leaning towards option 3. But would be interested if anyone has been on this path. If I get a tablet with a USB, I could add a USB DAC later on? Does the headphone out jack to connect to the amplifier ok? Are there any other obvious options I'm missing ? (I might build a Rasberry Pi, but that would just be a project.) I still have a Touch in my lounge room, Radio in my kitchen and Boom in the bedroom. So I'm also trying to wondering which of these will die next and what I replace it with... Re: [slim] ANNOUNCE: iPeng for iPad - Your Squeezebox Remote Gets Big
Hi I'm trying to enable playback following the instructions at http://penguinlovesmusic.de/2011/03/18/new-ipeng-versions-update-playback-change-discount-model/ When I go to Ipeng for Iphone on my Ipad it tells me this is "a feature you will have to purchase sepaarately for $1.19." I then go "Buy Now" but it tells me that "You can't purchase this item with this account". Have I done something wrong? I did buy Ipeng for Ipgone on my wife's account and Ipeng for Ipad on my account. Could this be the problem? Re: [slim] Squeezecenter & Windows Home Server
I think that while using a small system drive is appropriate for many server systems, WHS thinks different. The general recommendation for WHS is to use the largest drive as the system drive. This is because WHS partitions off a system drive and then uses the physical drive as a 'landing zone'. Depending on how keen you are to persevere with WHS you should try re-installing WHS on the largest physical drive. I've been using WHS for almost a year and, after some initial teething problems with getting consistent playback from Slimserver, I have been very impressed. The great backup system has already saved me once and I find the whole thing just chugs away with minimal maintenance day-in-day-out. -- redgum redgum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13679 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49334 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Squeezebox stopping
Whilst I have not yet completely solved my problem, I have determined the cause - the Windows Firewall. If I turn off the firewall the problem disappears. If I turn it on, it re-appears. However, I need to do some more work on this as ports 3483 and 9000 appear to be included in my exclusions list, yet turning on the firewall causes the SB3 stop (eventually...) regards -- redgum redgum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13679 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=39473 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Squeezebox stopping
Hi again. Still have not resolved my issue after spending part of the weekend trying to fix it up. My problem is that the SB3 will stop playing at a song. It will then always stop at the same point in the song. I can only replicate this problem when running SS on Windows Home Server. If I run SS on my xp laptop it will play perfectly - even with three wireless hops (WHS music share -> SS on xp laptop -> SB3). Is anybody else with 'stopping problems' using Windows Server 2003 (in particular SBS SR2 which is underneath WHS). -- redgum redgum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13679 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=39473 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] SB3 rebuffering and reset problems
I tried this with fixing the IP address at the router to a particular address for both the SB3 and the box running slimserver without success. I was wondering if the TCP/IP stack in the SB3 was a bit flaky too. By that I mean it doesn't handle some of the real world routers out there... I'm running Slimserver on Windows Home Server, which is Windows Server 2003 SBS SP2 under the covers. I am positive this is my problem, but have no idea how to fix it. -- redgum redgum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13679 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=39402 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Squeezebox stopping
Just to update you on my troubleshooting (with thanks to Slimdevices support) and to clarify exactly what is going on in my situation (Now with no wireless, ethernet cable everywhere, SB3, SS6.5.4, WHS). I setup a playlist with about 100 songs from different albums and started playing them. Here are the results: 1. Plays, but at about song 22 stops, 33 seconds from end of song. Pressing play on remote starts song again and it plays without failing. 2. Plays, but at about song 57 stops, 2:13 from end of song. Pressing play on remote starts song again and it plays without failing. 3. Plays but at about song 65 stops after 0:54. Pressing play on remote starts song again and it plays until 0:54 and stops. Display shows Rebuffering 0% shows as playing but has stopped. 4. Replicate this three times for this particular song. 5. Change to buffer display. Indicates buffer at 100%, still stops at 0:54 shows Rebuffering 0% just as it stops playing, then shows as playing but has stopped. 6. Played around with fastforward, if I go to after 0:54 it plays ok from there. 7. Tested the FLAC file (FLAC -T) and the file appears ok. This is the more intersting part 8. Play the song on its own in repeat mode. First time it plays fine, second time stops at 0:54. 9. Can replicate this. (ie plays fine first time when in repeat mode, then stops on 2nd play.) Hopefully this will help the Slimdevices people identify what is going on. -- redgum redgum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13679 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=39473 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Squeezebox stopping
Hi First post from me. I have a similar problem. Until last weekend I was running slimserver on a laptop and connecting wireless between my SB and slimserver with no problems at all. At the weekend I did a clean install of slimserver to a server I have built from new components. I downloaded the latest version of slimserver from the slimdevices website. The server is running Windows Home Server and appears to run fine. The server is connected with CAT5 to the router and there is now only one wireless hop involved from the router to the SB. However, songs will just stop for no apparent reason. This is the same issue as minora and Mike White. It is not the same issue as JimC, where he gets a power off situation. I can navigate back and select another album and it gets going again.I am also finding that the fast forward is not working on these songs. I can replay a song that has stopped and it will play fine. I can load up a playlist and at some point it will stop. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this further? -- redgum redgum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13679 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=39473 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
