Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android

I'm new to SqueezeCommander and the tablet world but was wondering
whether SqueezeCommander will work with my new Nexus 7 (2013 model) and
Squeezebox Server 7.7.2 on my Synology NAS - I don't use
mysqueezebox.com and don't intend to. (Some apps seems to require
mysqueezebox.com)

100% agreed - this is a typical example of how not to build a webpage -
fortunately you can easily scroll both vertical and horizontal using a
logitech mouse... - oh, wait no - it's flash so that doesn't work

My results with the search-function is not fantastic either. I often

something like "site:forums.slimdevices.com searchterms" or just
"site:slimdevices.com searchterms" if results from e.g. the wiki should

Thanks for the replies. I'm still interested in the Classic since it's a
cheap solution - I'd rather have two extra Classic's than one Touch.
Furthermore the display of the Classic is readable from a distance

Sorry to hear that it is being discontinued - but perhaps I'll be able
to shop around for a good offer.

I don't think SqueezeCenter is able to handle more than one cover art
image for a track/album. I also have multiple files with cover art and I
tend to name them like this:
Artist - Album - Front.jpg
Artist - Album - Back.jpg
Artist - Album - Cover.jpg
Artist - Album - And so on...jpg
These files are not used by SqueezeCenter but I can use them for other
purposes. I then create one file from the front cover called folder.jpg
which I resize to a suitable size (I've chosen 400x400px).

Thanks for the ideas. I've also considered page numbers and an
index/toc. Generally I would like to keep the layout as minimalistic as
possible - with the aim of getting the maximum amount of albums on each
page. But header and footer could to some degree be user configurable
and then it's up to each individual.
Somebody suggested creating "sections" meaning that artists starting
with "A" and artists starting with "B" (and so on) are separated by a
page break. This is nice since additions to the squeezecenter database
will not imply a print of the entire catalogue again - "just" the
corresponding section. The page numbering conflicts with this idea
unless the numbering scheme is something like A - 1, A - 2, A - 3, B -
1, B - 2,... - any other ideas how to avoid this conflict?
The "program" is a php-script and thus depends on at least a
mysqli-extension as well as a pdf-library (TCPDF) - this is NOT an
elegant solution but it's what I know - Unfortunately I don't know any
PERL and furthermore I don't think PERL will play ball with the pdf
library!
Thanks for your ideas and inputs - I will put them on the to do list!
/Tommy

My idea was to do something like this:

//possible field values: albumartist, albumname, ... (+ASC/DESC)
$config['sort'][1] = 'albumartist ASC';
$config['sort'][2] = 'year DESC';
$config['sort'][3] = 'albumtitle ASC';

Then the sorting is a bit flexible but still not too complicated (I
hope).

Right now the sort order is album artist, year, albumtitle but I've
thought of making this user customizable ie "year, album-artist,
album-title", "album-title, year" etc. I also thought about moving
compilations to the end of the document since they now appear under
"Various Artists" which I find annoying.

[slim] Music Catalogue in PDF - Requirements?

2009-03-17 Thread tipsen

Hi
I've made a first draft of a php-script generating a music catalogue in
PDF format from the contents of the SqueezeCenter database. I've
attached a couple of pages from the catalogue and would like to know
the following:

1. Does anyone else have any interest in a nicely formatted pdf
document with albums from SqueezeCenter?
2. Is this just a waste of time since Album Catalog Creator (ACC)
already covers this need?
3. If interested in this what would an "optimal" catalogue look like -
what information should it contain and what about the layout?

Regards, Tommy Ipsen

I used AutoFLAC/EAC on my Windows XP and subsequently moved it to my
(linux-based) NAS - which probably explains why the issue wasn't
handled automatically.

Re: [slim] Indexing of "...Something to Be" by Rob Thomas doesn't work!

2008-09-26 Thread tipsen

Ok... I've renamed the directory by prepending an underscore (_) to the
album-name - and of course with no changes to the tags it works with
SqueezeCenter.
I just think it would have been a "cleaner" solution if I could somehow
have told either my Nas (Synology DS-207+) or SqueezeCenter that the
directory wasn't actually hidden and should be included regardless of
the name...
Cheers, Tommy

Re: [slim] Indexing of "...Something to Be" by Rob Thomas doesn't work!

2008-09-25 Thread tipsen

It would probably work but what annoys me is that it used to work - I
remember playing Rob Thomas on earlier occations and now it doesn't
work anymore - something must have changed... and maybe I can unchange
it and get SC to index properly without renaming to wrong names...

[slim] Add "Play random albums" to favorites does not work?

2008-09-25 Thread tipsen

Hi
I'm a regular user of the "play random album" feature and tried adding
this option to the favorites. It seems to work as the menu-item appears
under favorites - with an integer input-argument probably specifying
amount of loaded tracks in the now playing list.
BUT when I choose the option from favorites it just clears the now
playing list and nothing else happens...
Has anybody tried this or can anyone get it to work?
Regards, Tommy Ipsen

[slim] Indexing of "...Something to Be" by Rob Thomas doesn't work!

2008-09-25 Thread tipsen

Hi
I have a problem with the album "...Something to Be" by Rob Thomas.
SqueezeCenter doesn't seem to properly index the album and since I'm
running SC on a Synology NAS I suspect it has something to do with the
beginning dot actually hiding the directory from SqueezeCenter.
Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this without renaming the album
to a another (wrong) name?
Cheers, Tommy Ipsen

Re: [slim] Using MediaMonkey with squeezeCenter

2008-06-10 Thread tipsen

I think MediaMonkey and SqueezeBox will appear and work as different
players from the SqueezeCenter point of view. But you can try
synchronizing these two players in the webinterface - depending on the
magnitude of the lag in the software-player this might work.
