[slim] SB2 fails to connect to server

2010-06-22 Thread tloden

I have tried virtually every permutation of installing, re-installing,
rebooting, upgrading the SB server, downgrading the SB server (I'm now
on 7.5.1), rebooting my SB2, rebooting my wifi router, rebooting my
wifi repeater, unplugging my wifi repeater and STILL my SB2 cannot
connect.

I'm running W2K.

Why can't I just specific the IP address of the SB2 to the server?

It CAN'T be this hard.

[FYI - The last time I upgraded to 7.5.1, it just magically worked ...
after 8 hours.]

I've tried snooping the wifi packets with Wireshark, but there's
nothing obviously wrong. There's a heap-o-mysqueezebox.com traffic
(which I don't care about.

I do see an ARP request from my SB2 for the Who has ... for the IP of
my server.

Could this be an ARP / W2K issue

What gets me is that it SOMETIMES works.

Is the server wired to the router? Have you tried the SB2 wired to the
router? Do you have antivirus on the W2k machine?

1. no
2. yes (it's the current config)
3. yes, but it has connected with it on before (Vipre)

I'll try no F/W and no antivirus (but I do not have my hopes up)

[BTW: I can ping the SB2 from my PC just fine. Right now, I'm more
concerned with the unanswered ARP request.]

[slim] Re: Nightly slimserversql.db rebuild

2006-02-26 Thread tloden

Thanks! - found it (actually, re-found it).

Which reminds me why I started down this path - it appears to do a new
and changed music scan only. I'm looking for a clear and redo from
scratch. I have about a 11K song library and I'm constantly correcting
typo's and makig various edits to the tags which the rescan doesn't
always pick up. (Though I did fix a browser cache issue that solved
my new artwork problem.)

Is there a way to specify a start from scratch with the plugin (or do I
need to hack rescan.pm)?

[slim] Nightly slimserversql.db rebuild

2006-02-25 Thread tloden

I'm having an issue scheduling a nightly rebuild of my slimserversql.db.
On W2K, I've got a Scheduled Task at 2:00 AM to run db_rescan.bat:

net stop slimserver
cd Cache
rename slimserversql.db slimserversql.db.old
cd ..
slim.exe --scanonly --logfile database_rebuild.log
net start slimserver

Dirt simple, but the problem is that my SB1 is powered off (or asleep)
after the rebuild runs. My question is :

1. Is there a better way to schedule a rebuild? (from the command line
without shutting down the slimserver service - otherwise, slim.exe
complains that the slimserversql.db is locked)

2. Can I wake up / power up remotely? (saw threads on WOL, but most
all the discussions were about waking up a PC, not an SB).

FYI: I rarely use the remote.

Thanks.

The rescan plugin on the server settings page?

I was hoping for something that I could run nightly (with out having to
either remember or click).
