Re: [slim] Sample rate limitations on SB3 and earlier

2013-08-08 Thread westiebj

Thanks .. yes I'm very impressed with the DSP3200's

Its a second room system and FAR better than I thought it would be

I have just managed to secure a pre-owned SBT on fleabay for 200 GBP ...
which apparently is quiet a fair price!

[slim] Sample rate limitations on SB3 and earlier

2013-08-05 Thread westiebj

Hi

I realize that there is a limitation with SB3 ( and earlier ) whereby 96
/ 24 is down sampled by the server. Now my question is this :-

I am using the digital out and assume that technically the stream can be
passed thru untouched and retain its sample rate / bit depth etc ?

If so, how can I configure the server to ignore any such down sampling
prior to passing it on ?

I have a large amount of my music store at either 96 / 24 and its fine
through my touch but I want to use my SB3 into my second system (
Meridian AC200 + DSP3200 ) without any quality degradation

Thanks in advance

Re: [slim] 25% off at Logitech store (Europe)

2009-12-12 Thread westiebj

That would seem to be the only good deal

Another example :-

Duet :-
Logitech UK Regular price = 289 GBP
Logitech UK Price after discount = 216 GBP
Average price in UK = 80 GBP

Transporter :-
Logitech UK Regular price = 1799 GBP
Logitech UK Price after discount = 1349 GBP
Average price in UK = 1250 GBP (Can be found for less)

Boom :-
Logitech UK Regular price = 249 GBP
Logitech UK Price after discount = 186 GBP
Average price in UK = 179 GBP (Again can be found for less)

Re: [slim] 25% off at Logitech store (Europe)

2009-12-12 Thread westiebj

I did manage to get the code but unfortunately the prices shown on the
UK website are so high in the first place they are still more expensive
after discount than most other retail sites
eg :-

Transporter :-
Logitech UK Regular price= 1799 GBP
Logitech UK Price after discount = 1349 GBP
Average price in UK = 1250 GBP (Can be found for less)

Boom :-
Logitech UK Regular price= 249 GBP
Logitech UK Price after discount = 186 GBP
Average price in UK = 179 GBP (Again can be found for
less)

So no savings for UK

[slim] Crazy pricing of Transporter in UK

2009-03-10 Thread westiebj

As you may all be aware the poor old GBP has taken a beating lately, in
particular against the US Dollar. Down from around 2 Dollars to the
pound to 1.45

So the pricing in UK doesnt seem quite so bad by comparison at the
moment, but there is still some odd pricing going on.

As I understand it the "official" UK price seems to be around £1272

The Slimdevices US price = $1,999.99 which is aprox £1,453.63 ( + tax
and duties ) so no bargains there

Now a quick search on the web throws up the following :-

Superfi website :-
http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/3229
£1,076.55

Logitech official website :-
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers_audio/wireless_music_systems/&cl=gb,en

£1499.00

Amazon website :-
http://www.amazon.co.uk/LOGITECH-Transporter-Network-Music-Player/dp/B0017QN3ZU/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_2

£1,726.01

Think I know which one tempts me ...

Good to know I am not alone

Does anybody have any suggestions ?. It doesn't seem to be OS dependant
and I have upgraded to 7.3.1 (from 7.3 ) but no change.

All was fine with 7.2

[slim] Incorrect time displayed in standby (SC 7.3)

2008-12-29 Thread westiebj

I've noticed since upgrading to 7.3 that the displayed time on my SB3
and Boom in standby seems to be incorrect as follows.

After waking up the server the displayed time on SB3 and Boom starts
correctly. However it then does not update unless I come out of standby
on either box, at which time it corrects itself and is fine until the
next time my server sleeps / wakes up. I have to do this for each box

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

SW :- SC 7.3, SB3 FW 120, Boom FW 40, OS X 10.5.6 No extra plugins
HW :- Mac Mini

2007-09-04 Thread westiebj

Sorry for the 'shouting' headline but its STILL not possible to buy a
Transporter on the Logitech UK website ...

Surely they must have noticed no sales over the past few weeks ?

Or are they just waitingg for the special offer to end ?

It's still broken. I've tried several times this week and still can't
select 'buy' for the transporter.

Can't be doing sales any good

Re: [slim] 20% of all Logitech products (may be UK only)

2007-08-16 Thread westiebj

When I read this I was hoping it was Logitech coming to their senses and
allowing Europe to buy the slim products at comparable prices to the
USA, but it seems it was a glitch ?
If you try to add the Transporter to the shopping basket you can only
choose colour, not buy.

Oh well

[slim] SB3 thinks it's an SB2 ?

2006-01-02 Thread westiebj

Hi
Sorry if this has been covered before but has anyone seen the above ?

I have just received an SB3 wireless for Xmas ( already have a wireless
SB1 graphic ) and when the player is powered on it comes up with the SB2
splash screen.

It did a firmware update immediately but still the same.

Apart from that it seems fine. In fact I have to say compared to SB1 it
really looks/feels like a quality product and I am well impressed.

I'm using the digital TOSlink out and believe (?) it sounds better
too.

Thanks for any help
