Re: [slim] strange knocking sounds on particular radio station
I tried sync'd and unsync'd now - no difference. According to LMS, Funk Republic Radio streams in MP3 Format with 128 kb/s CBR. The URL: http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s140526&formats=aac,ogg,mp3,wmpro,wma,wmvoice,real&partnerId=16&serial=d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e Today this radio station's program also stops playing often, after a short while. I have expereienced this before with this station, although not often, and not as persistent. And unlike in earlier cases, today once it stops playing, it doesn't resume automatically. When I saw the URL that LMS shows I copied it to my browser (Firefox), this opened the VLC plugin which played the stream - exhibiting the same strange knocking sounds! But at least it keeps playing, doesn't stop as LMS / Softsqueeze does. When I go to http://funkrepublic.com/listen-now/ and start the little player that the website offers, the program plays clear and undistorted. And it doesn't get interrupted, it plays without outages. I also noticed that the sound quality of the replay is considerably better when I use the website with its player, even if I disregard the knocking sounds on the other methods. I switched between the website, LMS+Softsqueeze and FF+VLC several times, it seems repeatable. Today, LMS just doesn't keep playing Funk Republic Radio. As described in the TO, only Funk Republic Radio is affected. Other stations play continuously, without any strange sounds. I even tried other stations from Seattle who stream MP3 - no problem, they "come in" clear and undistorted. Do these symptoms ring any bells with anybody? wus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57771 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101086 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] strange knocking sounds on particular radio station
Since some time I hear strange knocking sounds, I guess some sort of artefacts, when I listen to Funk Republic Radio using my slim devices (a touch, a receiver and softsqueeze). Sometimes it also sounds as if other stations would squeeze in for a fraction of a second. Other internet radio stations are not affected. Also when I listen to Funk Republic Radio using the browser or Winamp, it sounds normal, without any unwanted sounds. Does anyone here know what causes this, and how to avoid it? My LMS runs on a QNAP. It is v 7.7.2 - r33893 When I look up the Receiver's, Touch's and Softsqueeze's versions on the Duet remote control (after first selecting each player) they are all shown as v 7.7.2 r9663. However Softsqueeze itself (on the computer) shows its version as 3.9b2. wus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57771 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101086 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Just for my understanding, castalla: what is the advantage of using Squeezeplayer via LMS to listen to internet radio - on a device that is, without all this, already an internet radio? Can't you receive the BBC aac stream with the Archos's own native software? wus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57771 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87364 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Unfortunately I have to revise that. Even only 2 players don't always stay in sync. And so far I found no way to get them back into sync once they stopped playing in sync. wus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57771 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87364 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music-Playback now on ANDROID! SqueezePlayer released to the market ...
O.k., I purchased SqueezePlayer and Orange Squeeze now to try on my phone (a GarminAsus A10). This basically works, I succeeded to synchronize the Player on the phone with SoftSqueeze on my laptop OR with my Duet receiver, but whenever I tried to add a 3rd device to the same sync group one always got out of sync. Is this a known problem? Can it be avoided somehow? wus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57771 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87364 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music-Playback now on ANDROID! SqueezePlayer released to the market ...
1. Is it possible to use one of the controller apps (like Orange Squeeze or Squeeze Commander) to control the player running, on the same tablet? If yes, are there any special requirements for the tablet to do that? 2. Can I use the original Duet Controller to control SqueezePlayer? I guess that should work, just want to make sure... Mick Seymour wrote: > I don't normally do it but once I had it running on my phone synced with > a Boom and an SB3 at the same time. It seemed to work well. Good to know, thank you Mick. Still I have to try with the tablet of my choice. As I understand some of Stefan's earlier post in this thread it depends on the hardware and probably the Android version how well synchronisation to the other players works. I haven't quite made up my mind what tablet I want to use for this. Initially the idea was to try with any of these dirt cheap ones which are now available from about 60 Euros. That would probably be the cheapest Squeezebox ever (if we disregard the raspberry pi, which I don't consider a ready-to-use consumer product). In my opinion, if the tablet has nothing else to do but reproducing audio, then even an outdated, slow unit should be good enough for the job. Or does anyone disagree? Anyway, lately I wonder if it wouldn't be better to spend 200 Euros on a Nexus 7 which is pretty much state-of-the-art and should offer the option to upgrade with an external USB DAC (at least in theory, so far it seems nobody really tried this) if the analog output doesn't sound good (as somebody from a German HiFi forum wrote). Any thoughts on this, anyone, please? Also one specific question (Stefan?) - would a USB to TOSlink converter such as this one: http://www.inline-info.de/art/de/89909D/InLineAudioKonverter%2CEingangUSB%2CAusgangOptoToslinkundKlinke%2Cschwarz.html fall into that same "USB Dacs/USB audio" device category which should be supported in JellyBean? Because I already have one of these. For windows, it works without requiring any driver. wus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57771 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87364 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

One more question came to my mind. Some tablets don't deliver good quality audio on the earphone plugs. Is it possible to use USB to analog or USB to TOSlink converters to deliver better audio quality to the amp? wus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57771 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87364 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I want to try if synchronization with my other SQBs works, before I spend the money. Did I overlook something or is there really no trial or free version of SqueezePlayer? wus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57771 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87364 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
