[slim] Black Magic Firmware: firmware 37
When I was planning my sabbatical, I considered Sweden. I had a nice job offer there, but one of my colleagues had been posted to Sweden for a year and she told me she couldn't deal with the long winter nights. It turns out, she had Seasonal Affect Disorder, so it effected her more than most people, but still, it made me reconsider too. I wouldn't like that either. Maybe that's why they have more holidays. The day length change is probably a stressor. (so I ended up in Germany, about 10° north of where I had lived most of my life, and the sun went down at 4:30 during the winter. Bad enough) -- Michaelwagner Michaelwagner's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=428 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22774 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

All in all they can wangle about 9-10 weeks of holiday a year. Not bad, still they make up for it with all the tax they pay. -- mattybain http://www.last.fm/user/MattyBain/ mattybain's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22774 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

support issued an RMA. use it. if you want help here, explain the NATURE of the problem, instead of just venting frustration over support (which most people here have found to be very good), and very little of the actual details of the problem. As a side note, I've noticed that it throwing a "I do this for a living and much better" doesn't often result in favourable responses. Simple observation. hope that helps. -kdf ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Is there some must-have function that you're not getting with firmware 28? If you do tech support, then you must know that there are hundreds of thousands of hardware/software setup iterations, and it's difficult to solve every problem in final releases, much less betas. Easy, I don't even now What logs to submit! I looked at them, after turning on must of them, but so not 'glaring' errors. Tech support never asked and who would I send them to here? If you are not willing to contribute and debug why do you install nightlies in the first place? The official release is still 6.2.1 (with firmware 28?). Just stick with that if it's working for you. [slim] Black Magic Firmware: firmware 37
Hi, I did the upgrade (firmware v37), but after the XilinX FPGA upgrade I was unable to playback any track or radio station via SqueezeNetwork. I reflash the firmware a couple of time (power off and stay on key 1). At first the new VU appears but all the other information pile up over the VU... I disconnect the PSU for 5sec reconnect and the display is back to normal but no playback sound when playback form my HD or trough SqueezeNetwork... I reflash a couple of time and find out that you must disconnect the PS to get the firmware registred properly. Now, playback via Squeezenetwork work fine but still no playback from my hard drive. This is the second time this problem happens on two different SB3 with different firmware. Last time I get over it after several FPGA re-flash...but no luck with v37. Do I need to re-program the firmware via the installer ? maybe the first transfer didn't work properly ? I'm puzzled and open to suggestions... -- mftech Tête à FLAC mftech's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1586 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22774 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

The SB3 finally works with my 2wire router! Noticed something else with this firmware. It's a minor thing, but a nice touch nonetheless. The "Now Playing" buffer capacity mode shows not only the percentage, but a bar as well. This makes it very easy to see from across the room. It might have been introduced in one of the intermediate firmware releases - I think I went from firmware 33 or 34. Nice touch. In case you haven't seen my fairly excited posts yet, this fixed two pretty fundamental issues for me: 1. My old SMC2804WBRP-G wireless router now works perfectly with the SB2/3. No encryption and WPA-TKIP. The router does not support WPA2 and probably never will. I didn't try WEP but since WPA works fine, why bother... 2. My newer Linksys WRT54G running DD-WRT firmware 2.3 works perfectly in WPA2/AES mode with the SB. So ironically, I'll stick with the Linksys even though the SMC is working fine! It's Richard's 4th day at Slim Devices. Already a great accomplishment! A round of virtual applause is in order, I think. Just think what he'll accomplish there in a year... I'm hopeful that this resolves other people's problems as well. But all the same, I officially dub firmware 37 "The Black Magic Firmware" (tm). ;-) -- Mark Lanctot Mark Lanctot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22774 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
