Download and install SqueezeCenter as well and try out SoftSqueeze to
get a feel of how the SB3 looks and its interface. It's not perfect,
but it'll give you a good idea.

You'll love it! :)

If you are connecting your SB3 via WiFi then make sure you have a solid
WiFi signal with no interference.

If you have not done so already create your www.SqueezeNetwork.com
account, then get setup with all of the FREE membership based streaming
accounts like Last.fm, Slacker, RadioTime, Pandora, Live365, etc...
Then enter your SN login info into SC. This way when your SB3 arrives
you will be ready to roll with Internet Radio via SC or SN. :)

I'd suggest not doing the 30 day trial memberships like Rhapsody,
MP3Tunes, Napster, etc... until you have had your SB3 up and running
for a few days. If you run into some issues with initial setup (rare,
but it happens) then you won't be ticking away at your time limits for
such accounts while you work out any bugs.

Happy streaming! :)

If you mean buffering or stuttering, yes. But these are usually due to
the source stream and/or their servicing provider (like Live365 or
ShoutCast) having issues. But these are rare occurrences.

I've experienced both (I also use WinAmp/ShoutCast). You can use cut &
paste to get the URL from ShoutCast or from the streams home website and
paste into SC or SN. The URL must be in the proper format and not an
embedded player feed for SC or SN to play the stream.

Re: [slim] Bought!

Well, shoutcast is a service of winamp, not of slimdevices or logitech.

Let me try another way: I like two radios. I found and listen them in
winamp (through shoutcast). The problem is that they play scattering.
One of this radio I found that broadcasts even directly. If you tune on
it directly, it plays without scattering. I desume that shoutcast has
some problems.
My question was: has anyone experienced something like this in
squeezebox, or is only a problem of winamp?

Not sure I understand but
- ShoutCast is just another service on SC and SN, it is not required
- unless specifically selecting ShoutCast server or station URL copied
from ShoutCast then ShoutCast will not be utilized
- ShoutCast will often "shuffle" it's streams so a saved URL from
ShoutCast may not work in the future
- if the station via it's website uses ShoutCast servers then all of
that stations streams will be through ShoutCast

I hope one of the above answers your question? :)

[slim] Bought!

2009-02-25 Thread Rikk

Finally I bought it! Now waiting for the SB classic to be delivered,
probably in a week. Just can't wait!!!

Meantime a question: do you experience a streaming problem on certain
radio through shoutcast servers that are not present if you tune
directly on the web site of the radio? (not passing through shoutcast)

[slim] Bought my 1st CD since ripping 650 albums

2007-03-21 Thread Rick B .

What a different experience! I looked closely at the CD, realizing that
this was likely the only time I'd be handling it. No checking for
fingerprints, no buffing - just rip it and file it away. No errors
either - imagine that!
