At the bottom of the Plugins page, tick the box Show all 3rd party plugins [x], click Apply. Then a plugin Tablet Skin should appear. Tick the box and click Apply. SBS may want to restart, that's OK. Re: [slim] Controlling Squeezecentre with a Nokia phone
The plan in Nokia is all based around Qt. Symbian continues (and is now open source) and the future Symbian^3 and Symbian^4 phones will be Qt based, the latter I think far more. The idea is that the general smartphones will be Symbian, the top end range will be more likely Maemo (or now MeeGo). Both platforms run Qt apps. From a developer perspective, you don't have to develop specifically for each individual OS which has always been the pain with Nokia (e.g. having to do a version for S60 3.1, then 3.2, and 5.0). Just develop for Qt, and the binaries are compatible across the OS range once the Qt core is there. Might have to rebuild for Maemo though, and you may have to add some customisations for the different experiences (screen sizes, layouts and touch/non-touch). P.S. You can do Qt now on S60 3.1, 3.2 and 5.0 phones. Check out the Qt for Symbian demos and it just installs the core framework and a bunch of apps. They work very well on my E72. The plan also is to eventually support Qt apps in the Ovi Store, but they need to be easy to install with all dependencies, and it's not there yet. Oh, and then outside of Qt, there's the WRT framework and I think there's an Ovi framework. Not to mention you have the option of Java, which is universal even with S40 phones. Anyway, I'm planning to play about with Qt. If I manage to pick it up and no one else has bothered I might look into a SqueezeCentre remote control app of some kind as it's something I'd like, but I know nothing about Qt at present so it's going to be a long way off. If someone's up for starting an open source dev I'd be interested in helping out once I'm up and running. My dev skills are more on the underlying C++ side than GUI look and feel though (I'm a software developer, not an artist :D), though the C++ is a little rusty as I've been doing C# for a few years now. Now if we had Qt.Net on Symbian... :D -- deadkenny deadkenny's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6722 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=59033 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I'd be interested, but it's not a pressing need for me. The Handheld skin works for me, as does my SBC, and usually I'm near my laptop anyway. But if there was a Symbian app, I would use it. Opera Mini won't work, as it exists outside your local network. That is, the pages you view through Opera Mini are actually coming from the opera Mini servers, and as they don't have access to your SqueezeCentre PC, they won't be able to serve it. Re: [slim] Controlling Squeezecentre with a Nokia phone
I find handheld quite difficult to use on the N97/5800, There's 'this skin' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63929) but I haven't tried it. Hopefully now Symbian/Nokia have started there own application store (like Apple) a developer will be tempted to write an app. There is already a '.NET app' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63593highlight=moose), maybe this could be scaled down and converted to Symbian. [slim] Controlling Squeezecentre with a Nokia phone
Please excuse my lack of knowledge on this, I did try searching for info, but there wasn't much and it left me even more confused. In short, I bought a snazzy Nokia 5800 today, which I'm guessing is capable of controlling my SB. Squeezecentre is running on my XP PC. I get the impression that I'll need to add an application (skin?) onto the phone and configure it to address Squeezecentre. Is that correct? Anyone got a mugs guide link to the process? Thanks in advance. -- Mr_Sukebe SB+, Bel Canto Evo2i, Impulse Ta'us, Coherent system cables, Stillpoints Mr_Sukebe's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10609 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=59033 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
