Re: [slim] How to I really wipe out the music library

Anyone knows how to wipe out the library in 6.5.2 running under vista?

I am having all sorts of scanning problems after upgrading to 6.5.2 and
vista. Just want to wipe out the lib and start all over again

OK Note to self I will uninstall and wipe out the entire \Slimserver
tree.

But before I proceed, does anyone have recommendations on any
sub-versions that gives more accurate and more stable results on
scanning? (URL link appreciated).

I take great pain to scan all my existing and newly purchased CDs into
FLAC files, but the library has always been somewhat messed up. With
or without Musicmagic, which I purchased online and is also very
unreliable in terms of integration with Slimserver.

I am using Windows Vista Home Premium. In the older Slimserver versions
I used to be able to to go to c:\program
files\slimserver\server\Cache to delete the database. But with 6.5.2
I the directory does not seem to exist.

I with look into the multiple tags option as well. Have to learn how
to do it with MP3TAG

It would help if you mentioned what OS you're using. With a ThinkPad R61
it could be Windows or Linux. I'll guess Windows, in which case you
should (a) stop slimserver, then (b) delete the folder with the
database cache, which is usually in c:\program
files\slimserver\server\Cache. Delete the whole Cache folder. Then
restart slimserver and it will rebuild from scratch.

If that doesn't fix your information, use a good tagging program to
look for the possibility of having multiple types of tags in your
files, such as both ID3v1 and ID3v2, or ID3v2 and APE, or something
like that. Delete the tags you don't want and do a full clear and
 rescan.

I just remembered seeing a recent post in these forums about the cache
location being different in Vista, but I couldn't find the thread.
Maybe someone else will report on that.

As for showing multiple tags, in my experience that has only been an
issue with mp3 files. If your files are flac it's unlikely
(impossible?) that's the problem. If you have mp3s, add a column to the
mp3tag display and put this in the value section (without the quotation
marks): %_tag_read%[ (%_tag%)]

[slim] How to I really wipe out the music library

2007-06-23 Thread agentsmith

Running SlimServer Windows version 6.5.2

I have tried all the scanner options including --wipe and tried to
wipe out old tag information that I have corrected.

(e.g. I used to have multiple genres like Jazz;Vocal;Piano, which I
have not standized to Vocal.)

But somehow after a rescan I cannot get rid of the old tag info.

It is frustrating, where are the database files located, can I just
wipe out the whole folder?
