I moved LMS to picore a while back, and am no expert on windows, but
have noticed "permission" issues with windows 10 that were not there
initially but came about during an update. This might be what you are
seeing.

Check out this thread, where @gordonb3, and @d6jg mention windows UAC
(User Account Control) -
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?115832-LMS-Has-Stopped-Working-Cannot-Get-It-Working-Again

My permission issues magically appeared after I had to fresh install
windows because of the dreaded "startup repair" loop to nowhere. I
reinstalled freefilesync and all of a sudden got "you don't have
permission to access this folder" even though I was logged in as admin.
I had to explicitly launch ffs via "run as administrator"

Let it be noted that I had recently done a complete reinstall of Windows
and LMS. This startup setting issue was not a setting that had
mysteriously changed.

Very interesting. This option does not exist in my current version:
Logitech Media Server Version: 8.3.0 - 1643414649 @ Sat Jan 29 01:17:07
WEST 2022

The only option is to load at login.

I can't help I'm afraid apart from Saying that having run LMS in Windows
for a number of years I got frustrated with the occasional loss of
settings and other glitches that I have switched to piCoreplayer which
seems a lot more stable.

I've always had that selected under various falors of Windows, now at
11. Curiously, every now and then on a Win system full reboot, LMS
fails to load.. Not often, but enough to be annoying. Manually
forcing LMS to then load is easy enough - but I often log out and in of
Win to fix the issue, in case there's anything else that is behaving
oddly.

I'm not always meticulous about shutting LMS before a Win reboot - so I
wonder if sometimes LMS has not properly closed and therefore misses /
ignores the restart on boot option?

[slim] LMS on Windows 10: does LMS load before login?

2022-02-11 Thread jimzak

I recently rebooted my server and noticed that the players did not
connect.

So I logged into my Windows 10 server and noticed that AS I LOGGED IN
LMS seemed to load.

I've been using LMS for over a decade and I had not noticed this
particular behavior before. I assumed that LMS would load into Windows
10 without someone physically having to log in.

Am I missing a setting in Windows or LMS?

Thanks.
