[slim] Library/Tagging/Display.....

2007-04-02 Thread EasilyConfused

Got a wee problem with some artists in my library

For some reason unknown to me,slimserver is listing some of my albums
twice. For example... I have 'Grace' by Jeff Buckley. 'Grace' is listed
twice when I search Jeff Buckley either through slimserver or through
SB. Tracks 1 to 4 come under one listing for 'Grace' and tracks 5 to 11
come under another. Same with 'Into the Purple Valley' by Ry Cooder.
The album is listed twice. I only have ripped 5 tracks from this album,
tracks 1 to 3 come under one listing and 4,5 under the other. Tagged it
with MP3tag...no change, tagged it with Itunes...no change. Wots goin
on

Also, just ripped 'Blonde on Blonde' and Slimserver/SB is not
displaying the artist or recognising the album. I can search all the
songs from the album individually, but SS/SB has no listing for 'Blonde
on Blonde' and when I search a song by song title SB does not display
the artist. I have this problem with several other albums. ???

Re: [slim] Library/Tagging/Display.....

2007-04-02 Thread Anne

I have the same problem, I thought everything was fine with 6.5.1, and I
upgraded with 6.5.2 and firmware 80 but I cannot say thats when the
problems began...
I have artists showing up in Album and Artist but not in Genre, albums
were listed twice, some files under rock , like J.J. Cale, are
actually empty on the SB3 although the albums are in SlimServer under
J.J.Cale, and yes, it is tagged with Rock...
Everything works like a charm in ITunes, no problems there, it begins
to get confusing when SS takes over the show.
Someone suggested you should not use the scan the library for new
music but rather once in a while use clear library and scan again,
but I dont know, I did that. Albums wre not double listed but other
problems came.
Can I ask you, when using mp3tag, when it scans the music and the
machine have written tags, are these automatically stored in ITunes
then or do you need to do something ?
I saved the file with all my music when I was done doing some tags
updates, this was stored as a zip file in my documents.
How do I call this file up in mp3tag again ?

Re: [slim] Library/Tagging/Display.....

2007-04-02 Thread EasilyConfused

Anne,
as per usual, I have solved the problem myself within minutes of
posting on here! and as usual.. I don't really know how! I'm like a
dog with a bone with these problems and I just screw around with things
until it's sorted, and then I say to myself 'Uh?...how did that happen'
!!
Anyway, not sure about your 'genre' problem - I don't ever use genre
as a means of searching or for tagging etc. All I've done is to remove
ape and ID3v1 (both reading and writing) from the offending tracks in
the MP3tag settings. Then (and this probably didn't achieve diddly
sqaut but I did it anyway) copied the offending tracks to my desktop -
deleted offending tracks from library and from ITunes - then added them
back to library and ITunes from the desktop...quick 'rescan new and
changed' with SS and bingo!... 'Into the purple Valley' is once again
one album by Ry Cooder...and 'Blonde on Blonde' is apparently by Bob
Dylan!!
at least I think that's wot I did!
