Back in black. Thanks to Johannes Franke who recommended I try replacing
the two smoothing capacitors on the 5V supply. $4 and I'm back to
listening.

For those who may not know Joe he has a blog with a lot of great
information about the Transporter, Classic and the Touch. Saved my bacon
:-)

I ordered from the nonUS dealer mentioned in the other thread. It was
easy.

As I suspected I'm not finding any of these in the U.S.

Thanks Gary. Yup. It does appear to be the issue. I was just sitting
down to see if I can find a replacement in the U.S.. It appears there is
some heat indications at the base of the power transistor. I'm old
school electronics so power supplies don't bother me, but my eyesight
does.

Wish me luck and thanks again.

I am not an electronics repair person by any means. But the power supply
repair in that thread required me to unscrew a few screws to remove the
top of the case, then unplug the old power supply and plug the new one
in. Then screw the case back on. No soldering, no measuring anything
with a meter, nothing at all. Can you use a screwdriver is the only
issue. The replacement power supplies were dirt cheap. I think I ordered
4, as the shipping was the same and more expensive than the supply
itself.

Thanks. I appreciate that and I will peek under the hood, but I am
looking for someone who actually repairs the units.

[slim] Looking for a place to repair my Transporter

2021-07-29 Thread Howard Passman

I'm sure this has been asked over the years, but I'm hoping maybe
there's some new info out there. I believe my power supply is the issue
and am hoping someone knows someone who fixes these things.

Any help would be appreciated.
