No, the only MIP functionality which is available on the Controller at present is standard mix. You can install the RetroBrowser plugin on the Controller which will enable to you to access all of the player menu functionality as if it were a Squeezebox Classic (I assume this will still work even if you only have a Duet without a display, but I only use the Classic/SB2s) as a workaround. Are you running on Windows by any chance? If so, I think the problem is caused by the fact that the Moods directory (in Windows) has moved from c:/Program Files/MusicIP to C:/Documents and Settings/[Username]/Application Data[hidden folder]/MusicIP. Squeezecenter is only looking in the Program Files location at the moment. I will file a bug. Quick workaround is to copy the entire Moods folder from the MusicIP prefs folder in Documents and Settings (you will need to unhide the Application Data folder) to C:/Program Files/MusicIP. Moods always used to be available in SC. They disappeared for me for a bit in 7.1. Then they came back.
