I am a hard wired kinda guy. I might be able to set it up wireless working through SqueezeConfig but I prefer hardwire. Have you tried it with a wire? IIRC a full reboot with a wire in place will put it onto your wired network and it is then controllable via LMS, App etc. I agree wi-fi is a no no from hereon though. Some of the comments from Flatterman's post I didn't think you were resetting your SB3 every day:p Just an idea, if you have a different power supply you might try that to reset the SB3. Re: [slim] Probably dumb squeezebox question...
Maybe this whole issue has something to do with the crazy snowstorm here today...heck if I know. Have never been prompted to manually go through the setup process in all the years I've owned these devices. Tried squeezeconfig on a Galaxy Note 3 and the player wired into router...tried the reset procedure countless times. It was smooth sailing for what seemed like the last dozen months or so. Oh well... Re: [slim] Probably dumb squeezebox question...
You might have had better luck (less work) resetting or reconfiguring the wifi access point/router. I'd suggest you backup its configuration if possible once you have things stable again. Then you'd just need to reload the backup configuration if this happens again. Re: [slim] Probably dumb squeezebox question...
well I was wrong you do need to plug it in while holding the + button. First, some clarifications: Your SB3 is connected via LAN (wired) to a wireless bridge. The bridge is a separate device, i.e. you do not use the bridge feature of the SB3, right? SqueezeConfig will never change the settings on its own. If you select a player in SqueezeConfig, it will ask you if it should use the Wifi values of your phone. If you select NO, you will see the unaltered settings of your SB3. (At least, that's the expected behaviour. If it behaves differently, it's a bug.) Have you tried a factory reset of the SB3? The SB3 can only be found by SqueezeConfig if it is in Setup mode, e.g. after a factory reset. Press-Hold the "+" button on the SB3 remote while plugging in the power cable. This should factory reset the SB3 and it should be found by SqueezeConfig (the SB3 needs to be connected via LAN cable in this case!). But why exactly do you need to re-configure your SB3 every day? Does it lose its connection to the server? If yes: At which point does it lose the connection? After a server restart? You may want to try to set a static IP for the SB3 (using SqueezeConfig). This often helps a lot. BTW: If the SB3 loses its connection to the server after a server restart, it's often enough to *restart* the SB3 to reconnect. In SqueezeConfig, you can long-press on a player and select "Reset". This will restart the SB3, but keep the current values. If you are using SqueezeCommander, you can also reconnect an unconnected SB3 from within SqueezeCommander, i.e. you do not need to use SqueezeConfig in this case. SqueezeConfig is only needed for the initial setup. Re: [slim] Probably dumb squeezebox question...
Hi Benefactor I have SqueezConfig installed on an old tablet & the last time I tried it, it found the Duet but never was able to activate it. If you try UDAP the only time I was able to get it to work was by connecting the laptop directly to the Duet. Connecting directly to the router should do it but what do I know about networking:rolleyes: I have gone to the dark with a PI3 & sound card that way I can run LMS on the same device & not worry about initializing... But love the old VFD displays:cool: (1) Pi 3 w/ HifiBerry Dac + Pro & Max2Play, (1) Touch, (1) Transporter, QNAP 853a for files Tex's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30118 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106950 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Probably dumb squeezebox question...
Something happened today with my wireless network. Most of my wireless devices (including 3 of my squeezeboxes) lost connectivity for some reason during the afternoon. With the squeezeboxes, I had to go through the setup process to connect again (choosing network, etc.). Problem is, one of my squeezeboxes (a squeezebox classic) has a burnt out VFD. Without being able to see the menu choices to do the setup process again, this machine has pretty much reached the end of its lifespan...correct?
