[slim] Re: Ignoring FLAC files

2005-11-02 Thread rectorydp

Sorry to dig out an old message but I have almost exactly the same
problems as Ian. I have tracked back through the discussion that lead
to this question and looked at the comments on bug 775.

Ideally I want a single listing of each track and I want the best
quality to be used for each particular player. In fact comment #16 on
the bug summarises the situation exactly as I see it.

If flac is commented out in types.conf is it possible to play the flac
files or do they become inaccessible?

Ian have you worked out an effective way to deal with this situation in
lieu of a resolution to bug 775.

Thanks
David

I don't want to derail this: are you guys talking about the problem when
both .cue and .flac files show up on the squeezebox?

JayNYC my problem (and I believe it is the same for Ian) is that I have
both mp3 and flac files. I want slimserver to pick the best file format
for the player,eg flac for squuezebox2 and mp3 for other mp3 players eg
slimp3. I don't really want to do transcoding as I can have up to 7
streams running at the same time.

I would like to see only one entry for each track in listings but I
want flac or mp3 to be selected depending on the player.

David

I have been commenting all the 'flc' lines out of types.conf
:). Works well, but it does make the FLAC files
inaccessible (which is a suitable workaround for me at the
moment).

Best;

I think you'll need to comment out the flac lines in types.conf instead
of convert.conf

Ah yes. I was nearly right.

That seems to have done the trick.

Thanks!
