Re: [slim] Slim splits CD into 2 or more Albums
i'm getting this problem too I have checked the tags with mp3tag and cannot find any inconsistencies. Does anyone know whether this has been resolved? This might be a conflict with the guess tags feature of SlimServer. If you are not relying on this feature try deleting all of the guess tags formats in Home/Server Settings/Formatting and doing a rescan music library with the clear library and rescan everything option under Home/Server Settings/Basic Settings. -- Spies Spies's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=307 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=26186 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Slim splits CD into 2 or more Albums
I had a similar problem with 1 album or 2 albums. I eventually fixed the problem by doing the following: 1) moved the affected album out of slimserver's music folder 2) re-scanned my music folder (so the album was wiped from slimserver's database) 3) deleted all tags in the album, and saved the files in that state 4) re-tagged the files and saved again 5) moved the files back into slimserver's music folder 6) re-scanned the music folder I haven't had any such problems since. -- bukharin bukharin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10859 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=26186 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Slim splits CD into 2 or more Albums
I'm resurrecting this old post because I've got the same problem with Slimserver splitting certain albums into two or more. I am using SS 6.5.1 from 17/01/07. Most of the albums in question are those which I've ripped on two different occasions (e.g. having first used iTunes to rip, I later replaced certain tracks which skipped with EAC rips. (It's OK, I now know that iTunes ripping is inferior!)) In some cases, the album therefore comprises some MP3s, and some AAC/MP4s. But should this really matter? So, there are reasons why SS might split them, but the tag variables which I would expect to matter (i.e. Artist and Album) are consistent - I checked this with mp3tag. All the directory trees are correct, with no splits across Windows directories. My question is, in order to prevent this problem, do I really have to have completely consistent tags across all tracks within an album, and consistent file formats too? Other programs I use like MusicIP and iTunes don't spilt albums like this. Incidentally, I use MusicIP with SS, and run Windows XP Pro. To prevent any conflicts or duplication, I leave the music directory blank, and although I use iTunes for other purposes, within SS I've selected 'do not use iTunes'. -- neilcoburn neilcoburn's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=653 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=26186 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Slim splits CD into 2 or more Albums
I opened a bug some time ago for this issue. Although the circumstances triggering the bug might be a little different. In my case, the same album by the same artist split over 2 dirs in the file system result in 2 album entries. Also updating 1 track within an album and hitting Look for new... resulted in that track getting split off into it's own album. http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4380 There is another thread discussing the issue here http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=30555 I haven't noticed the problem in some time, but I'm not sure anything was done to scanner to fix it. -- oreillymj oreillymj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=699 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=26186 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Slim splits CD into 2 or more Albums
I have about 500 Albumes in my iTunes Library. After tidying it up, I cleared the Slim library and rescanned the entire iTunes library. I now have several cases of a single CD being split into 2 different albums by Slim. I've checked both iTunes and the actual directory (e.g. ...\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\The Beatles\) to confirm that the entire CD is in fact contained as a single entry in iTunes. Any suggestions on how to get Slim to collapse these back into a single album entry? It's annoying to hear only half an album when you put it on... Alternatively, there might be some subtle difference in the album name, like a space on the end. -- I spent all me tin with the ladies drinking gin,So across the Western ocean I must wander -- traditional ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
