as demonstrated by this post:
http://charlesv.livejournal.com/127966.html, but I do think this should
just get done as it's the avenue to squeezebox enlightenment and
therefore sales. The wii browser is capable, I believe. It would also
be nice to get some value out of the $20 I threw at it, just to learn
that tversity doesn't /really/ work.

Re: [slim] Slimserver on a wii ...

follow up to netvibes - I re-setup lame, the podcast, and got it working
in a browser, according to Charles' recommendations. But on the wii,
the netvibes page loads fine, but the flash player won't make a sound.
Not sure why, seems like it's working, but had to play with it only
during halftime of the father-in-law's game. Anyone have any guesses
on how to take the next step?

Yes indeed, that would rule. My proposal: build a flash player right
into the SqueezeCenter interface, one that persists while you're
 changing pages and such.

Go for it :)

Re: [slim] Slimserver on a wii ...

2007-04-19 Thread caldvd

Hi,
This is awesome. But I don't see how to access my Plugins on either
Touch or Nokia770. I use mainly SQL or Dynamic Playlists and with
either of these skins I couldn't access those features. I switched to
a customized version the handheld skin (which I use on my HTC 8125),
this worked, but does not look nearly as cool.

I think I would use this most when guests were over for the WOW factor.
Other than that, hey, I start a playlist and walk away.

But again, WAY COOL!

Thanks in advance for help with the Touch or Nokia770 Plugins question.

Re: [slim] Slimserver on a wii ...

2007-04-15 Thread MelonMonkey

Has anyone tried Nokia770 on the release version of the Wii browser?
It's quite buggy. The Fixed positioned navigation at the top scrolls,
as does the bottom footer. When browsing covers the footer appears over
top of the covers list.

Anyone have it in them to make a brand new skin that's better suited
for a TV display?

I've probably mentioned this before, but it's completely within
Logitech/Slim's best interests to get a great browsing experience
happening for better (and better looking) control of the Squeezeboxes.

We've seen a bunch of people recently talk about the AppleTV, but in my
opinion that device would make an excellent controller for Slimserver
and not a replacement for a Squeezebox. A TV-based interface with large
album art makes for an excellent show - it's also very well suited for a
party or gathering. Using an AppleTV as a web browser is not yet part of
the out-of-box experience of course.

I'm mainly concerned about a skin for Wii use (and its Opera
trickiness)

Unfortunately none of the current skins are very well suited for this
purpose. There are many reasons why not, but I won't get into that
here. Suffice it to say the best solution is a brand new skin with
pretty much nothing visual or interface related borrowed from any of
the current ones.

[slim] Slimserver on a wii ...

2007-01-03 Thread Korny Sietsma

Just a note, for anyone interested, the Nintendo Wii's opera browser
works very nicely indeed with the Nokia770 skin... I was thinking of
building a wii-specific skin, but the Nokia770 skin is pretty close to
ideal out-of-the-box. Some text is a bit small in the default
zoomed-out mode, but I can always zoom in, and if the text were bigger
the screen might be a bit cluttered.

I saw someone on flickr who has the same setup, if you want an idea of
how it looks:

(though this uses the 'touch' screen - I can't see much difference
between this and the Nokia770 screen, myself)
