[slim] Slow loading of coverart in Duet
My Duet has turned really slow when searching on albums. Before it loaded 2-4 coverart per second. Now it takes 1 album per second, and most wont load att all or take 2-5 each per minute. This Happend after I put in 5 more albums and did Empty and search from scratch-option. There is good speed to the box through cat6 and also 89-90% to the Duet remote. If I got this right the SC makes a list of coverarts when it scan the directory. So it will go faster for SC and the Duet. Sc shopws coverarts really fast. I's about the same albums that takes long time to show in the Duet. Never had this problem before. I'll try another Night_rev as soon as I can. My library Isnt large but when I hit magic songs the problem started :-) Have done rescans, factoryresets on the box and the Duet but nothing helps. It may be worth you trying the 7.0.1 beta release. Last week we did some optimization on the artwork download for the controller. This included using jpeg's for the artwork, allowing for a faster download and more images to be cached on the controller. Ah, you didn't mention you were running the 7.0.1 beta releases. It's important to keep both SqueezeCenter and the Controller both up to date. The problem you are seeing may be because the versions are slightly incompatible. I've noticed a speed up in album art downloading recently but I have albums that won't display it at all, If I browse to the track then the artwork is shown but not for the album. If I do a wipe and scan then I just seem to get a different bunch not showing properly. PS are you planning on preloading the artwork to speed it up even more? First I tried another factory reset and updated the firmware on the Duet with the current 7.0.1-17981 SC that I had. same problem ! I downloaded the last dev_night 7.0.1-18232 and reinstalld SC and uppgraded the Duet. It Helped. Now the coverarts are loaded with full speed. But I don´t know if it was beacuse of the newer version of the betarealese or the reinstalltion of SC. Anyhow, you are really making a good job at slimdevices.
