[slim] Sonic Impact T-Amp - comments?

2008-08-22 Thread duke2555

I need a portable amp for my Squeezebox and have an opportunity to
purchase this SonoSonic Sonic Impact T-Amp Amplifier by SonoCable for
a resonable price. is it my best choice? no volume control (on
Squeezebox) and only rated at 9 watts into 4 ohms and 6 watts into
8ohms should be enough to power 90db sensitive speakers to very loud
levels in medium to large sized rooms??
http://www.sonocable.com/images/product_sonic1.jpg

are there better options? also considering Gen 2 T-Amp and an
Audiosource Amp100

Thanks

I guess it depends on what you mean by very loud and medium to
large! I run a gen 2 T-amp into a pair of regular bookshelf speakers.
The room is a fairly standard sized bedroom, something like 12'x14' and
I've never tried turning it to max, it'd be too loud. I wouldn't expect
the same setup to work well in my living room which is three times the
size (and with high ceilings).

I have a Trend audio TA-10.1 which is i guess about the same. I have it
on sensitive speakers and it can produce quite high volume levels
without any problems.

I have one too in the bedroom. Unbelievable quality for the money.
