Depends.
If you plan to buy a Squeezebox Receiver, you'd need a way to set it up
(only for SBR), you can't do that with iPeng.
There's a 3rd party tool for that called Net::UDAP, you can search the
forum or look at the FAQ on my iPeng site.

And iPeng doesn't act as a player (yet).

Hey guys,

Thanks for the info. I had done a forum search prior to posting the
question, but hadn't come up with anything. I'll keep looking.

Does iPeng completely replace the Controller? As in, would I even need
to buy the Controller?

I use iPeng and continue to marvel at the convenience it gives me over
the old remote with my squeezebox classic and squeezebox boom.

iPeng opens up so much music discovery because it is now easy to see
what is available (with Rhapsody and the other services). Much better
than the scrolling required with the factory supplied remote and having
to get close to the LCD of the squeezebox to see what is available.

Re: [slim] which Squeezebox iphone app is the best?

2009-05-30 Thread Dingostrategy

I shifted over to iPeng Telcanto when I busted my windows mobile phone.

iPeng is really terriffic. There are a few niggles, but I don't think
it's the software, but my brain. For instance it can sometimes require a
restart (all of a 4 second problem!) to find devices. Other occasional
issues such as songs 'playing' but not coming through the SB have been
reported, but you just can't beat Pippin's hands on responses to trouble
shooting. There are very few residual issues and they don't take away
from functionality and enjoyment very much at all.

I have no hesitation recommending iPeng app.

Will become quite a few more, It will definitely not come out before
the iPhone 3.0 release since it will require that one.

Hi Pippin,

by the way: you are already 20 minutes late with your next build 1.2
;-)

Quite honestly iPeng is a fantastic solution to remote control SC and I
use it much more than my SBC. I have great respect for Pippin who gave
us this absolutely stable app.

At this point many thanks, Pippin!

You could do a search on the forum, there's an old thread of the same
title :-)

I can only recommend iPeng, obviously (I wrote it) :-)
As silverlight says: it will cause trouble with the latest 7.4 beta
builds but then these builds will cause trouble with pretty much
anything (most plugins don't work, for example).

iPeng does have the most functionality of the three, it's the only one
that is fully featured if you compare it with the Controller (it has
support for plugins and SqueezeNetwork).
Apart from that, the main differences are on the UI concept (and
styling), others have to judge on that, I'm trying to design an
efficient UI that gives you quick access to a lot of functionality.

You can see learn more about iPeng on www.penguinlovesmusic.com

Re: [slim] which Squeezebox iphone app is the best?

2009-05-30 Thread silverlight

I really like iPeng and would strongly recommend it. Its very similar
to the Apple Remote software in terms of interface style, but much more
flexible. Just make sure to use the Squeezecenter build 7.3.2 or 7.3.3
(the nightly beta builds are very volatile now in my view and I don't
use them any longer - they caused issues for both iPeng, the web
interface itself, and my Pronto remote running ProntoSqueeze).

[slim] which Squeezebox iphone app is the best?

This might be a controversial question, but I'm considering jumping on
the Squeezebox bandwagon. In doing some research, I see that there are a
few iPhone control apps. What are the pros and cons to each? Which is
the most popular?

Thanks.
