Re: [slim] Drag and drop music Files
hey toke! also a new qnap user here. the qnap is linux based and follows completely different path names, which make your windows-generated lists pretty much useless. :-( (mine, too!) you need to find and replace the windows paths with the appropriate linux/qnap paths to make them work. its not too difficult. here is what i did to fix that: 1. open the m3u in windows notepad (or any other editor). 2. find and replace: drv:\music\... (your windows path) -- /volume1/Music/ (your qnap path) i found the qnap's exact path by checking the music folder in SC's settings. 3. find and replace: \ -- / 4. save the playlist in SC's designated playlist folder 5. rescan playlists in SC done! keep in mind that linux is case-SenSItiVe, so take care when replacing! ;-) BUT: once that is done, the playlists are unusable in windows... :-( (so much for windows and linux being able to integrate) right now i am trying to find a way to edit linux-compatible playlists from within windows. -- dcote dcote's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9701 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49962 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Searching/browsing and loading songs from within SC takes forever. Have you tried the slimfx skin for the SC web ui? It's quick and supports drag-and-drop. You'd still be doing DD from within SC, but it's worth a look. slimfx is not packaged with SC, so search the forum for slimfx and you'll find the link fast enough. -- aubuti Nothing high-end, but music anywhere I want it. raaurora;321238 Wrote: edit: p.s. - just make sure you save the playlist in whatever folder you configured SC to find playlists, and save in .m3u format. I got problems with own-generated playlists. Well actually I have generated a test playlist via MusicIP (MIP) and saved it in the same folder as my music. When I read the m3u list in Notepad++ it has got the correct location-links the the listed music files. My problem is that the SC shows the playlist (the test name) but no music files are inside the list?! Im running sc7 on a Qnap/NAS. I have located all my flac files on the NAS and the list is created from this 'location' (via my laptop). Can anyone help me ? I rescan the playlists in SC settings and it looks like it builds everything correctly. thx and best wishes Toke -- toke toke's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17735 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49962 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

It does great as a media server. -- raaurora raaurora's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18288 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49962 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Drag and drop music Files
Why can't I simply drag music files from my computer/music folder into the playlist? Because the machine running SC doesn't always have access to the computer you want to drag files around. Imagine running SC on machine A while working on machine B. A can't access files on B. (Well, it could be done, but it's not an easy feat). (Well, it could be done, but it's not an easy feat). Michael The best way, and I believe the most common way SC is used, is to have SC and the music library on one machine. Dragging and dropping the music files would be done in SC. Since SC has access to the music library I dont see any issues for implementing such a feature. Myself I use iTunes to manage my library. I create and update playlists inside iTunes. iTunes supports drag and drop feature so I dont really need it in SC. +1 I know that SC and the Squeezebox is not Winamp or any other music player .. it's better .. but I have often wished that I could do this like I've done with every other music player I've used since 1994. -- NFLnut NFLnut's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13180 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49962 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
