I suppose you could install some sort of streaming service on your mac
('e.g.' (http://dss.macosforge.org/)), and connect the Squeezeboxen to
it. But would it be worth the hassle?

First there will be delays streaming through SBS and if you have set large buffers for your player the delays can even be 5-10 secs - one user reported 20sec. OSX users who want Mac speaker audio to be played through SBS usually use Rogue Amoeba Nicecast and stream it as a http. Not sure if Nicecast works with Line-in but check their other products. I don't think there has been anything written for Mac as yet. I'm using Indigo on a Mac for the automation creating the voice so something similar to run on a Mac sounds like it would work. Do you know of any applications?
