Re: [slim] Musicovery.com can it work on the Squeezebox?
I have now listened to Musicovery using the Wavein plugin release 1.02, and it works. However despite my earlier expressions of joy on discovering Musicovery, I do now have some concerns particularly that their free Lo-Fi (32 kbs) option sounds pretty miserable on my SB via the soundcard, and I would not yet be prepared to pay a monthly subscription to their Hi-Fi (128 kbs). Mainly because although I am intrigued by the Musicovery approach (see www.musicovery.com) I am not sure that I would want to pay regular money to experience it at an acceptable level of quality, and I think that their range is narrower, shallower and often repetitive (same title different artists in same selection / multiple titles same artist (and often not that worthy of selection) in same selection. -- juniper SlimServer Version: 6.5.5 - 12638 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252 Perl Version: 5.8.8 MSWin32-x86-multi-thread MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt juniper's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9807 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35114 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

I understand your concerns about the quality of the feed. I use Yahoo Music Unlimited @192kbps in conjunction with the waveinput plugin ... a good way to sample music and their catalog is quite extensive (although not as large as Rhapsody @160kbps) plus it's cheaper to boot. . -- haunyack Transporter - BK R200.2 - Vandersteen 3A Signature. Thanks Haunyack, but both services are only available in the US. Its back to Last.fm for me, at least until the geographic listening rights can be sorted out, maybe I will try again then. -- juniper SlimServer Version: 6.5.5 - 12638 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252 Perl Version: 5.8.8 MSWin32-x86-multi-thread MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt juniper's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9807 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35114 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Well, you can always listen to sites like Deezer.com for those who are deprived of Pandora and Rapsody. -- -Stef- Yamaha - Chario - MJ Acoustics - Squeezebox 3 -Stef-'s Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10282 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35114 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Musicovery.com can it work on the Squeezebox?
I do agree that Musicovery could have a wider selection of artists, but from a personal perspective, their selection fits perfectly into mine. Although, yes, I might not get my musical spectrum expanded as I would with Pandora. I miss Pandora, I would happily go through the hassle of moving to the US, finding a job, getting a green-card etc etc, just to get a US credit card to I pay the silly 36 USD for a Pandora account. But, the likelihood of that happening in the near future, is minimal, since I already have a job I love. So until then, I have to find the better services here in Europe. -- PeterDB PeterDB's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11341 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35114 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

I just discovered musicovery.com also and it has had some upgrade over the past months, and I think, that it is actually better than last.fm -- PeterDB PeterDB's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11341 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35114 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

juniper;200568 Wrote: My question is as non tech expert, how on earth can one listen to it via the Squeezebox. Cheers Hi, The waveinput plugin can stream this from your soundcard to the SB/TP (Lossless - whereas the stream is piped directly with no transcoding loss) Works great...a plugin worth mention. btw...
