Re: [slim] Please stop the PM spammers!
So I removed the ability to send PM's to more than one person at a time... sorry but looks like it was being abused. AFAIK there is no way to restrict who can send PM's in any way besides globally. If I make a change it's for everyone in a usergroup (you are all mostly registered users). If anyone knows any different please let me know. Also let me know if someone has spammed you (fwd me the msg) and we will kill their account. Re: [slim] Please stop the PM spammers!
This is the only forum I've ever had spam pms on and I complained about them here a few months ago. Sadly, nothing seemed to be done. I've now disabled pms and that seems to have solved the problem. -- Patrick Dixon www.at-tunes.co.uk Patrick Dixon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=90 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49498 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Thanks :-) I first noticed it about 2 years ago when someone first gave me a rep. It shows up in my CP. I have to admit that I'm just as bad as everyone else in that I have no idea how to give out a rep or review reps that I've given. -- Fletch Fletch's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=529 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49498 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

A reputation systems is far more likely to work, but last I checked the forums don't have reputations. They already need to pass a captcha to register an account, so I'm not sure how that could be improved upon. Regular spam gets caught pretty quickly but PM spam is harder because unless it's sent to an admin they don't know it's happening. Still it's certainly an increasing problem, I've had a few just today...maybe we could tie the ability to send PMs into a poster's reputation, which can be added to when they make worthwhile posts on the main forums (i.e. not spam). -- radish radish's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=77 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49498 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
