Not Interested. - up to 5 EUR/$ - up to 15 EUR/$ - up to 25 EUR/$ I think the market for a multiple 100$ network audio player is somewhat limited. To me it seems SlimDevices/Logitech got a big part of that market but then sales reached there natural limit and stagnated. Most of the squeezebox devices are long living so at some point there's not too much incentive to buy new ones. So for Logitech it's one-time money against the continued expenditures of keeping the infrastructure (mysb.com) and software alive. I never understood why Logitech didn't start their own kind of cloud thing. They integrate mysb.com with all kind of subscription based third party services instead of offering their own ones. I gave a lot of money to mp3tunes.com for storing my own music in the cloud - but it never really worked. I still give money to Rhapsody for streaming additional music. I'm buying my music in third party online stores. New services like Itunes Match and Amazons Cloud Player kind of merge some of these markets. Even Ubuntu has its own music store and associated cloud storing services. If Logitech came up with services like that, I would happily pay them instead. Since logitech never offered some working cloud service for accessing internet radio + my own music i eventually set up a virtual server in a data center for hosting my own instance of sqeezebox server + 300 GB of online storage for my own music. That costs me 30 EUR/month the data center infrastructure + 10 EUR/month to Rhapsody for music streaming + a lot of hassle for setup und running the system. I would happily give that money (or rather some EUR less) to logitech for offering me the same service via mysb.com. But in the long run it doesn't make too much sense to multiply space requirements by storing the same music over and over again. Amazon does the right thing with it's cloud player. Just upload users music if it isn't in a common pool. At the same time I think amazons cloud player is ridiculously cheap (25 EUR/*year* for storing your unlimited size personal music collection). If logitech (or whoever) offered a similar service for squeezebox owners, but at higher quality (lossless), I would be willing to pay up to 25 EUR per *month* for that (whereas I think 10 to 15 EUR / month would be more reasonable for a mass market). mcm's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1925 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96850 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

That can't work it is not only important to get the rigth song but also the rigth version and master and how to know that it is an accurate rip ? I would like to see the ripping log file with compared accurate rip matches . The only solution for such a service is to rip everything them selfs to a very good standard and keep every known release of the same song . But most importantly how to handle metadata ? Many users can have a very personalised tagging scheme with custom tags ? There is virtually no consensus regarding what is proper metadata , so if the server saves space by offering a similar file it must keep and serve the clients own metadata to that ? I know there are still some minor flaws with their implementations, but all in all mapping works quite well already (mapping algorithm is probably based on Gracenotes MusicID). mcm's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1925 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96850 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

But I highly doubt they are matching ACCURATERIP info. This would be very different from a gracenotes MUSICID. p.s. I don't want a cloud for my music. But I do want something like mysqueezebox.com that manages ability to connect to music services, etc. For this I'd pay something. Maybe $5 a month. garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96850 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Amazon doesn't care if your version is only a 64kbps MP3. When they identify your track and they have it in their DB, you get their version (~250kbps VBR MP3). Your actual file is only uploaded if they don't have it in their collection. The problem with amazon is that, while it will try to match all kind of files (also ogg and flac) it will only upload MP3 and AAC (max. 100MB/file). No lossless. mcm's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1925 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96850 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

It would be smart enough to stream at bandwidth the device could cope with 3g on the road is not the same as 1000mb fiber in your home . A service that would stream the exact version at home or lossy one on the road would be it Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96850 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
