Hello Gavan, That sounds like a neat project. I don't know where said code is, but I know someone who does :) Please contact the OOoWriter mailing list: dev@sw.openoffice.org In this list you'll find all the Writer developers. They would know where the wordcompletion code is, and can probably help you with it. To subscribe, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and be sure to respond to the confirmation email. I hope the project goes well. Good luck! Cheers, Daniel. You can cross-register to any language that you aren't using. My understanding is that I could bind it to to es_ES and myspell would use both diccionaries. If your document is properly structured (headings, tables, objects etc.) it provides an easy way of navigation. But it does not stop there - you can also reorganise your structuring, promote or demote headings and their paras etc. Its brilliant. Is there anything that can be called outliner mood in OOo? If you consider the above you will find that outline view is ineffective and takes up far too much space. As a result, I never even bothered to look for one. [discuss] Error Reporting
Twice my laptop has shut-down unexpectedly with an unsaved OO.o 2.0 doc open in the background. Both times the program recovered the document and I was prompted to report it as a problem. However, both times the reporting utility failed, prompting the MS reporting utility to report that problem to Microsoft. Thought the info might be of benefit.
[discuss] Problem with blank pages in writer docs
When writing docs at the office, I have to use standard templates which I converted to use with OOo a long time ago, and generally I have no problems :-). However, there is one which has me stumped. Everything is set for 2-sided printing, and my level 1 headings MUST begin on a right-hand page. No probelm - modify Heading 1 format (text flowinsert blank page with page format right page). However this produces a completely blank page with no header and no footer for the preceding left-hand page. What I am *required* to put there is an otherwise blank page but with the regular header and footer PLUS a centered label on the page (Hor. and Vert.) saying: This page intentionally left blank I have rtfm'ed and all the other docs I've seen (since Staroffice6 and the first Oo release I ever got), but so far haven't found a way to do this automatically. Yes, I can create a blank left page format with the text put in place automatically (background as graphic which contains the text I need...), but that, too is a manual insertion. Having to change, say, 20-30 of these because something earlier in the doc is a real pain. If anybody has an easier way to do this, I'd really appreciate the info. Hi Daniel! DNS (Dragon Naturally Speaking) and the other commercial voice recognition programs do not seem to want to be helpful in porting their products to work with OOo. However, there is a open source voice recognition group that may be willing to work with OOo. They are called OSSRI [Open-Source Speech Recognition Initiative]. They are located at the following link, OSSRI [Open-Source Speech Recognition Initiative] http://www.ossri.org/ Also, since I have your attention, maybe you can help me out with this. Producer 2003 correct me if I'm wrong but OO can already do this. Impress can export files to .swf format which can then be embedded into an html document for viewing within a browser. I realise that the M$ product may offer some flash gui front end and methods of dealing with the components of a multi media presentation better, but never the less, it can be done using OOo already. [discuss] IRC talked on SUNDAY.
Hi all, I'd like to announce that due to LinuxTag on Saturday, we felt that Sunday would be a better day for the next IRC talk. So we don't lost the attendance of all the people going to LinuxTag. The next IRC talk will be Sunday June 26 at 15:00 UTC (more times below). As always, it'll be on Freenode, on the channel #ooonlc. You can find IRC instructions here: http://native-lang.openoffice.org/conference/instructions/ You can also download the talk slides right now: http://native-lang.openoffice.org/conference/ Talk title: Life of one NL project. Hristo is the lead of the Bulgaria NL team. This is a young NL project which recently went through the process of going from initial creation, to gathering volunteers, and getting the project going. Hristo will share about his experiences making a new NL project. What went well, what didn't go so well. Difficulties faced, and the solutions they found. Then Hristo will share his ideas for the future. And to conclude, he'll share lessons to be learned from this experience. This should be an interesting and valuable talk to (1) people interested in starting an NL project (2) people involved in young NL projects and (3) NL leads interested in helping future NL projects get off the ground more easily. I've seen through the slides, and the talk looks very interesting. Not surprisingly, I hope everyone will come. Unfortunately, a previous commitment will keep me from attending. But I have arranged to get IRC logs from someone else and I will post them on Monday. It seems therefore that your real requirement is for Impress to improve its multi media support. The fact that you can view resulting files via a web page (which is part of MS producer) is irrelevant in this case. Without having a need to produce such presentations I cannot comment on how Impress handles video/audio. Maybe someone on this, or the users, list will be able to provide more to the discussion. /paul On 6/24/05, Sweet Coffee [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi Paul! These types of queries normally are best for the users list. This type of formatting is done through the use of page styles. If you create the page styles that you want, you can then decide on what page styles you want headers and footers to appear. Re: [discuss] calc
Andrews wrote: Noted two small small problems on Calc running on xp - callouts change their properties after saving and reopening and the same applies to formating space from borders. Can you please explain further and also what version of OOo you are running. If you are running 1.9.109 please file two issues (one for each defect). The best way to have problems such as this evaluated is to file an issue. To do that, follow this link: http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/pre_submission.html If you haven't already registered at the OpenOffice.org website, you will need to do so. You can do that by following this link: http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/Join Fill in your information and reply to the confirmation email that will be sent to the address you provided. Once you have confirmed, then go submit the issue. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It is important that you file the issue to ensure reproducibility with your examples. Re: [discuss] new user query
maic palmieri wrote: I am converting from Word Imperfect and am quite pleased so far with OO. I am trying to compose an article, recto-verso, (mirror), with a title on the first page followed by 2 column text and a footer on the second page. I have not been able to keep both title and footer from appearing on both pages. I was not able to delete alternate pages while trying to set up 2 separate files for printing recto-verso. I would appreciate any help available. Thank you. Tony You need to use two different page styles. One for the first page and then a different one for the second page. If you need more help setting this up, please post to the list. I think he is complaining that the standard mirrors list the Linux install as only being RPM packages for the developers versions. If he looked on some of the other developers site he would find that he could get .tar.gz, .zip, .deb etc as well. They just need to look either on the list, or on the main site to see where the packages are available. I know where to grab .deb files, but not because it's clear from the website. I can't imagine how anyone could find the .deb files from the website. Even knowing that the page exists and where it is, I can't device a route that would take anyone from the front page to the .deb files. http://download.openoffice.org/2.0beta/instructions.html#other_linux And that's just the .deb files. Where do you find the .tar.gz archive? Cheers, Daniel. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Where do you find the .tar.gz archive? OK. The .zip may only be available for the current MS Windows version having a quick look, but the .tar.gz is definately available on the Ximian developers site. I did not say it was easy to find some of these packages, just that it was possible to find the packages if they looked at other developer sites. Remember, we are talking about a product that is still in beta :) Regards Jonathon -- OOo Tips (RSS) - http://mindmeld.cybersite.com.au/tips.rss OOo Knowledgebase - http://mindmeld.cybersite.com.au/ Cybersite Consulting - http://www.cybersite.com.au/ Training4Linux - http://www.training4linux.com - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
