A word processor shouldn't be confuse with an HTML editor because HTML is
much less flexible. So having both integrated would either break the HTML
implementation or cut back on the wordprocessing features.

For example, when you clic enter in the wordprocessor might sent you 2
lines under on the HTML editor while that wouldn't be the same as a
worprocessor break.

Worprocessors are very focused on a paper document A4/Letter while HTML
editors are not. Also designing in HTML has changed to a CSS-based area
which is what you could find at Dreamweaver / FrontPage / NVU manage
desing much different than the HTML.

I was actually thinking that to improve the HTML editor in OOo should be
on extend the CSS component in the editor rather than unifiying it with
the word processor. Once that said, Writer and HTML editor is derived from
the same project http://sw.openoffice.org

Hi, Andrew,

That's a good idea to split out the HTML editor from Writer, though it
might be userful to retain some kind of ability to export to XHTML+CSS.

If you're looking for web editors, then two that are compatible ;) with
OpenOffice.org are Nvu and Mozilla Composer (now called Seamonkey):
