I hope, that I understand you right: You don't want to use the graphical
interface, right? Ok, than you can use the command line:

Go to the folder, where you have unpacked the rpm-files, change with su
to root and typ the following command: rpm -Uvh *.rpm then everything
will install automatically in the right way. When you've done this, go
into the folder "Desktop-Integration, and install with the same command
the rpm-package for Mandrake/Mandriva. That's all.

This way has worked for me several times.

I'm sorry, but I have no answer to this question ;)

Yep Wes, install them all simultaneously. Mandrake specific CLI
instructions follow.

"cd" to the directory and
"urpmi *"

I dont know about Mandrake 10, but on my Mandriva 2006 powerpack, i followed
the document
http://documentation.openoffice.org/setup_guide2/2.x/en/SETUP_GUIDE.pdf
and it worked for my RC3 swedish. (See rpm based installation)

Hi,

   > Where's the quality control?

it went to the world where end users read setup guides
(http://documentation.openoffice.org/setup_guide2/2.x/en/SETUP_GUIDE_A4.pdf,
page 11). Ideal world there. I suggest you to go there too!

Thanks Sigrid and all the others who have responded.

I'll try this one and see how I go.

hmm i didn't see anything about circular dependancies. actually i didn't
see any information about dependancies at all.

maybe it isn't such a good idea to use circular dependancies ? (well, at
least until official build system supports enough of other package
formats :) )

rpm2tgz in some cases lost some installation scripts and i have had a
better experience with rpm when managing rpm packages.

oh, btw theres an error at the end of page 11 - commandline for removal
lacks a dash in front of "nodeps" :)

Of course. There is a documentation about *installing* such RPMs which were
not followed when installing it.

Do you care enough to file proper issue in IZ for documentation project?

yep, but maybe it is worth giving a hint about it in documentation
anyway - i have seen this question pop up several times

i usually file issues, but i knew that documentation people read these
lists, so i hoped somebody would notice it - and as grs noted, it is
already fixed :)
