[SH-Discuss] An excellent example of poison and their effects.
Having observed Synhak over the past 6 months, I too have witnessed the infectious nature and spread of the poison which now spills out all Synhak's pores. It is toxic, and palpable as soon as you cross the threshold. It matters not what the cause was or why it still thrives. The real issue from this point forward is, can the space/body survive? I believe there needs to be an impartial knife applied liberally to cut out the non-viable tissue. No consensus, no vote, no appeal. Re-application for future membership, possible. Will this hurt the cash flow from dues? Yes! But what does that matter if the space is dead? This needs to be done quickly and the surgeon given unquestioned latitude. Impossible? Not really. Difficult? Certainly! Will it happen? I truly doubt it, but without it, death is just a heartbeat away. Metaphor Martin, Take Care Have fun Always. [SH-Discuss] Dialysis machines.
Just an FYI in conjunction with Torri's request. I will be removing the two dialysis machines from the space this coming week. Until then and as per the instructions written on the side, you may remove any component from inside the machine and monitor housing, but the aluminum frame, slide out trays and aluminum skins are do not hack . And Devin, I did not get a response from my text so I figured I would repost it here. I will also be picking up the aluminum cart that the milling head parts have been setting since the move. So please, if you haven't already done so, clear off the cart and if its in the way please put it back by the dialysis machines. Thank you. Take Care Have fun Always. [SH-Discuss] What a rip off a solution.
Yesterday, I decided to order a second Raspberry Pi. So I do to Element14's web site and click on the 'buy now' button. So a window pops up and asks you if this is for personal or business use. (What business is that of yours???) So, I answer the question, noting that all personal use RPi's orders are handled through their sister company MCM. Then I go through the ordering process for a pi without the SD card and my least expensive option for shipping is $10.49. (What the..???...One third the cost for shipping???) I call the 1-888 number and talk to a customer 'service' person. Her best answer was I'm sorry sir. So, I cancelled my order and went back to Element14 and answered that 'personal or business' question with 'business'. Finished the order process and shipping was $5.and some change plus $3 tax, for a grand total of $42 and change. What a crock of bull...'personal or business'?... And the reason I say that is because in December '13' when I ordered my first pi, there was no such silliness. Again, I say 'What a crock...' So, even though I am not a member, might I make a proposal that maybe another member can officially propose. I propose that Synhak take a poll to see who may be wanting a RPi. And if you want a RPi, you must have (a proposed percentage of the cost = X) turned in by (a date). Synhak will then take that money and offset the balance using some grant money to order that number of RPi's (and maybe a few extra to stock) When the RPi's come in, those who requested and paid a deposit on one can pay the balance plus the equally divided shipping cost and get their pi. End of proposal. When I was going through nursing school, I had an instructor who always said, If you come to me with a gripe, you better have an idea for a solution. And that has always stuck with me. In other words, Don't just whine about it, fix it. Sent from my RPi. -- Take Care and Have Fun Always. [SH-Discuss] wifi gui for RPi
Does anyone know of a decent wifi gui for the RPi ? I am having trouble with Alpha antenna and RPi playing nice together. I am not looking for some obscure, unheard of gui with no documentation. I already have that with this Wheezy distro. I realize that most of my problems are probably my fault. But I really need something I can put on RPi and customize. Re: [SH-Discuss] something for summer
For those requesting more about the locomotive hobby. My train club is The Lake Shore Live Steamers. Www.lakeshorelivesteamers.com I am in the process of building my 3rd, 1/8 scale, 7.5 gauge, live steam locomotive. It's a Heisler logging engine and about 90% completed. I also have 3 electric locomotives. The steamers had actual printed plans, the electrics were my designs, but all were scratch built. Take Care Have fun Always. [SH-Discuss] Something for summer.
After I got home from the meeting last night, I got to thinking about a couple of things. The one being that once winter ends and decent weather start, I will be spending more time out at the train track. Because we hold public runs every other Sunday. A public run is where we give the public free rides on the trains. Some days we have 700 to 800 people come ride with us. It is open to any one who shows up and you all are welcome to come and see us. So, along those lines, I keep thinking about some of the cool things that could be done with a RPi or Arduino or BB in conjunction with this hobby. For instance, just a simple set up to graphically represent a locomotives location on the track on a laptop and then post that info on a webpage. From there, the imagination could run wild, like controlling signal blocks and switches, and the nice thing is that once the bugs were worked out, an actual product could be packaged and easily marketed on the web or our hobby publications. Again, this is just a thought. I don't believe there is a huge demand for any such products, but when has that ever stopped pharmaceutical companies. They are always coming out with a pill and then generating the demand for it by marketing. Latest example, testostrone replacement theropies. Besides, I think it would be a great learning experience in programming and might make a decent project for teaching programming. Again, just a thought. Take Care and Have Fun Always. [SH-Discuss] Router compat.
I am looking to get TW cable service. On their website they list comparable modems and routers. I am going for the $15. per month package. I keep trying to find a compatible unit at office max or staples, but can't seem to locate one. What I'm seeing seems to far surpass twc's requirements. The other requirement is that I will want to have the RPi sending video from it perched on my R/C lawn mower back to my laptop. My yard is 100' x 200' with the house in the middle. And I'm not wanting to spend $200 on a modem/ router. Thanks in advance. Martin Pinkston ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@synhak.org https://synhak.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[SH-Discuss] Little blue tote
Hello group, Three weekends ago while helping with the move I had brought a little blue tote which had my 4 lime green ratchet straps in it. During one of the unloads at the new space, someone accidentally unloaded my tote with one of my straps in it. I did not notice it until the next morning. Devon and I have searched old and new space a few times during the move last weekend, but have yet to find it. So, if any one recalls where they my have put the tote, please put it back by the dialysis machine. The totes description: blue, about a foot square and 8 inches deep. Interlocking, barn door type lid. Very sturdy. May still have the lime green ratchet strap in it. Thanks. [SH-Discuss] Foot traffic
I don't know if anyone has really taken serious notice of the local foot traffic at Summit yet or not. However, it generally appears to be homeless individuals walking a daily circuit until the shelters open in the evening. Not all homeless are violent; however, I have yet to see any unscrupulous person carrying a sign, warning of the potential for danger. That being said, be aware of your surroundings at all times inside and outside the building. A safe assumption would be everyone of them carries at least a box cutter for self defense. I should be able to bring a dead dialysis machine to the space late this afternoon/ evening. I just wanted to make sure someone was going to be there to help with the unload.
