Here is the problem I have two models Book and IssuedBook, IssuedBook have

available @ "/api/unit_tests/models".
I am able to test Book model successfully. But I have a test for IssuedBook

It seems cause of the problem is referring Book object created in
BookTestCase that was previously run. But I dont understand that why Book
record getting deleted after first testcase execution.
Could you educate me on this to solve the problem?

Fwd: Django template permissions not working when used inside the template of an inclusion tag

2019-08-12 Thread er

I am uncertain what is the source of the problem here and due to I doubt
it is a bug, i checked what is available for django and thought the
mailing list is a good place to post this question.

You can see the issue better formatted here

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/57451323/django-template-permissions-not-working-when-used-inside-the-template-of-an-incl

I have 2 apps in a Django Project i am using to learn django. In the app
A I have an inclusion tag where I am using a template named
templateA.html. This inclusion tag is being used in the app B, inside
the template templateB.html. The content of templateA.html is shown
properly inside templateB.html. I noticed though that when I am
attempting to check permissions of the user using code similar to the
following:

   |{%ifperms.my_app.can_do_something %}show something here {%endif %}|

then, if I include that code in |templateA.html| it is *not* working,
while if I use it in |templateB.html| it is working properly.

Is there something else that needs to be done for permissions in
templates when are inside templates included in other templates? Am I
missing something else here?

Also in case it is relevant, to mention that i am using a custom user
model based on |AbstractUser| so i can add some more fields to the user
profile.

Django Project - 1 database 2 schemas - Postgres database

2019-08-12 Thread LeandroL

Hi,

I am working on a public project that uses Django.

When I do ‘python manage.py migrate’ I get all my tables created properly
on schema public. It also creates an extension hstore (and at least one of
the table uses this extension).

Then I rename the schema public, to for example public_1 and create new
schema called public. When I do ‘python manage.py migrate’ (to create the
tables on the new empty schema public) it fails.

It says ‘type hstore does not exist’.

Seems like, the extension, is created for the first schema, but the second
time (for the second schema) it fails.

Do you know how can I sort this?

Thanks!

Leandro

Re: Storing credentials in the DB

2019-08-12 Thread Jani Tiainen
Unfortunately storing password in db has a fundamental flaw. To be able to
use to access any remote source it has to be in usable form. Wether
digested or plain text form it doesn't matter since at the moment you use
it to login other resource it is in plain format (whatever format that is).

Re: Storing credentials in the DB

2019-08-12 Thread Sundararajan Seshadri
If I understand is right, user stores the credentials in a database, say A
and another application, probably using a different database B wants to use
the credentials from A.

Right?

There is no problem at all, except you need to:

(a) write your own hook for validating the password in the application
using the database B, but will access the credentials in A. Either you can
define A in django itself or through plain Python itself, you can access it.

(b) Note that the password will be (and should be) stored encrypted and
'normally' you will be in no position to 'decode' the original password.
Whatever password is entered while using the application will be subject to
same encryption and the result will be compared with what is in the
database for allowing the login. Hopefully this mechanism is still OK for
you.

Cheers.

Re: Hi, can any one help me please.

2019-08-12 Thread Sundararajan Seshadri
It means that there is no line in urls.py of the main application with the
name as 'display_laptop'. Probably you are confused with the action and
name. Action should be a callable and should be imported in urls.py file.
Name is the name of the route and it appears within quote (normally).

Typically a url is: [url_pattern, callable, {additional parameters or
empty}, name='display_laptop']

if you are going to write a function called display_laptop, import it into
the urls.py and in the above url, replace callable with display_laptop (no
quote); that is:

from import display_laptop

urlpatterns = [ [.], [url_pattern, display_laptop,{..},
name='display_laptop'],]

Hi.

Yes and no.

Django isn't cms but web application development library written in python.

So yes you can do all those things. How much work and effort it requires
depends on many factors.

Re: Django Rest Framework

2019-08-12 Thread Andréas Kühne
Have you used a plugin for nested handling? Or are you writing one yourself?

I would recommend using a plugin. We have developed one that you are free
to use:
drf-nested on pypi or there are others on Pypi as well.

Regards,

Andréas
