Re: installing Django on Mac OS 10.6
Perhaps you could post about your results. I tried this, in setting up a deployment server, and ran into roadblocks (which I did not document) so I switched to sqlite. The latter comes with the python on snow-leopard, and the only issues I had were with permissions; I had to make the database AND the directory holding my source code writable by _www. It's not part of Django, and doesn't come with OSX10.6, but you'll need it if you want to use MySQL. The source is here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mysql-python/ but you may find some gotchas when installing it on OSX, there are plenty of guides a Google away. -- DR. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Django users" group. installing Django on Mac OS 10.6
I have installed Django on my mac with OS 10.6. It installed just fine and I was setting up my first project. I then ran python manage.py syncdb as I am using MySQL, but I got the following errors: Traceback (most recent call last): File "manage.py", line 11, in execute_manager(settings) File "/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/django/core/management/ __init__.py", line 362, in execute_manager utility.execute() File "/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/django/core/management/ __init__.py", line 303, in execute self.fetch_command(subcommand).run_from_argv(self.argv) File "/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/django/core/management/ base.py", line 195, in run_from_argv self.execute(*args, **options.__dict__) File "/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/django/core/management/ base.py", line 221, in execute self.validate() File "/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/django/core/management/ base.py", line 249, in validate num_errors = get_validation_errors(s, app) File "/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/django/core/management/ validation.py", line 22, in get_validation_errors from django.db import models, connection File "/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/django/db/__init__.py", line 41, in backend = load_backend(settings.DATABASE_ENGINE) File "/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/django/db/__init__.py", line 17, in load_backend return import_module('.base', 'django.db.backends.%s' % backend_name) File "/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/django/utils/importlib.py", line 35, in import_module __import__(name) File "/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/django/db/backends/mysql/ base.py", line 13, in raise ImproperlyConfigured("Error loading MySQLdb module: %s" % e) django.core.exceptions.ImproperlyConfigured: Error loading MySQLdb module: No module named MySQLdb Obviously the MySQLdb module didn't load or it can't find it.
