2021-07-23 Thread Simon Kelley
Ok. So you're not configuring a server and getting the expected response. Your
problem now is to work out why dnsmasq is not reading your configuration. Note
that it logs the configured servers ar start up, so that should help debugging.

Simon.

No idea. I'm not one of the developers. I just happened to glance through the
documentation. However, it might help the developers to help you, if you
provide details of the system on which you're running dnsmasq.

Is your platform one of those on which this feature isn't implemented?

In case it's relevant, Akamai had an outage yesterday which affected DNS for a
lot of domains. See https://edgedns.status.akamai.com/incidents/n5zl6dythvfv

I was getting a mix of REFUSED and SERVFAIL yesterday afternoon.

Which domain(s) were you trying to query? Do they use Akamai's services? Are
they responding normally today?

2021-07-23 Thread Dominik DL6ER
Hey Sunil,

I encountered this situation only when dnsmasq didn't have any working
upstream server it could forward your query to.

Could you please
1. add "log-queries=extra" and "log-facility=/tmp/dnsmasq.log" to your
configuration,
2. restart dnsmasq,
3. do the DNS query that ends up in REFUSED, and
4. send us the generated log file

Maybe it reveals something of interest.

Best,
Dominik
