[libreoffice-documentation] RE: Base documentation

2012-02-01 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
I have put the better link on the wiki now.  :)  Some people in the
documentation team might be interested in Robin's earlier posts in this
thread.
Regards from
Tom :)

Hi TomFeel free to forward my email address to the documentation list. Thanks
for the info about Lulu and the books.  Is Base likely to be updated re. the
sql engine in the near future?  All the best Robin Beaumont  From: Tom Davies

Thanks :)  I put the first link up already.  I will swap it out for the better
link later hopefully.  you could subscribe to the documentation list yourself
and ask them directly.  Or could i just forward your email to the documentation
list?

Most of their docs are released under a Creative Commons license (CC-by-SA) and
then put up on Lulu so that people can buy the completed books if they want
something real rather than downloaded.  It's a cheap way to get books widely
distributed and hopefully earn some money.  A couple of people also do their
own books hence some of the links at the bottom of the wiki-page.

Regards from
Tom :)

Date: Wednesday, 1 February, 2012, 9:51Hi TomCertainly - I would be honoured if
you felt my stuff was good enough to link to. The link you have given below is
to a backup I keep, the most up to date version can be found
on:www.robin-beaumont.co.uk/virtualclassroom/chap8/libreoffice_base.htmlI also
plan on making the equivalent youtube videos to each of the handouts, and will
put the link on the same page.Unfortunately two of the tutorials have not been
completed at the moment, that is  one on reports and one on forms any help
gratefully received - sorry I can't pay anyone anything obviously anything will
be attributed. You might be interested to know that the tutorials are part of a
course in healthcare  systems development, focusing on uml, which you can find
at  http://www.robin-beaumont.co.uk/virtualclassroom/edin_cl1/index.html Any
comments most welcome and I'll add a comments box to the bottom of each of the
pages for the libreoffice tutorials so
people can leave any. All the best  Robin Beaumont From: Tom Davies

Subject: Base documentation Hi :)
Drew from TDF recently pointed out your Base tutorial
http://www.fhi.rcsed.ac.uk/rbeaumont/virtualclassroom/chap8/libreoffice_base.html

I was wondering if you would like to add a link to it from the TDF
documentation wiki

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] The License to Translate Ooo Basic Guide

2012-02-01 Thread Rogerio Luz Coelho
The original document does not have the license in it it has a link to the
site of the license, can this be used in our translation?

And in my copy there is no mention to the contributors to this document,
how do I find them out ?

It depends of what guides you're talking about. The one originally
produced by Sun were under the PDL licence and ported to the wiki under
 this licence

Here is the link for the guide I refer to ... it is the
 Basic-programming
 language guide

 http://wiki.**documentfoundation.org/images/**
 d/dd/BasicGuide_OOo3.2.0.odthttp://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/d/dd/BasicGuide_OOo3.2.0.odt

So it's under PDL license, a license we have written several time ago now
;) Your translated document needs to be under the same license and a copy
of the license must be provided with the document.
You have to fill and add the appendix to your document mentioning the
initial contributor and the new contributors of the modified document and
their contact. You don't need to list the modifications made.
There is no restriction to the modifications you are allowed to make to
the document, you can change it as you like (FDL allow to block some parts,
 but not the PDL).
You may add any license compatible to this one if you want.
 The PDL is available here:
 http://www.openoffice.org/**licenses/PDL.htmlhttp://www.openoffice.org/licenses/PDL.html

 Kind regards

[libreoffice-documentation] Getting Started with Base

2012-02-01 Thread Dan Lewis
The Report section has been rewritten to include the basics for
using the Report Builder extension. It is now in the Draft folder of
the Getting Started Guide folder. Along with it is a zip file of the
screenshots that I replaced throughout the chapter. The replaced
screenshots were probably taken before we went to the XP silver theme.
Now if I could only get Chapter 2 of the Base Guide done before
Jean arrives back from the frozen south ... I just might make it.
