2001-06-08 Thread DONBROII

I accidentally deleted the article about Skunk talking about missile defense
that was posted to the list recently. I was wondering if somebody out there
could resend that to me. Thanks in advance

Skunk

2001-05-14 Thread Dale Dryden
Title: Skunk

Dear Fans (Most Importantly Mid-Atlantic Fans);

I spent Saturday evening with the Tom Principato Band. Tom told me he was again going to be playing at a Blues Festival in Winchester, VA with Jeff Skunk Baxter. He didn't have many details, but thought it was supposed to happen on Saturday, June 23.

Just wanted to let everyone know...

 Regards, Dale

skunk

2001-05-09 Thread Bob Young

I nearly had an apoplexy today, perhaps the nurses
out there could have helped!!
The BBC radio news carried a piece about this man
who was a guitarist in some American rock combo or something! And HE was
advising the President on missile defence. A strange, but great world
folks!!

Doob on,

Bob.

Re: skunk

2001-05-09 Thread kc

A quote from Skunk about
missiles?
This doesnt surprise me, I know that I have read
somewhere that Skunk has been involved in elected politics for several years
now. I never did hear of the outcome of his last endeavor taking place when the
Bush/Gore debacle was being determined. I believe he was running for
a seat in either the US congress or possibly it was the California state
assembly, somewhere in southern California. None the less ,as I said I didnt
hear of his outcome, who knows mayby there is a groupstill
countingtheir chads off or looking for dimples or whatever to find out if
Skunk won. Does anyone know for sure how he did and for what office he was
running? Hmmm I wonder if he ever inhaled ?
Thanks

Re: VH1 BTM and Skunk

2001-03-03 Thread Ickyboy
Hey Dale,

Do you know why Skunk doesn't play with Doobies since Michael isn't in the
group? I ''ve always wanted to see the line-up from the Stampede days.
Which brings me to why Tiran isn't in the group. I have heard from the FC
members saying that he had a fall out with someone in the group, but nothing
was mentioned on "BTM". I was hoping that Tiran would have toughed on it.

Thanks,
Mickey

VH1 BTM and Skunk

2001-03-02 Thread Dale Dryden

Hi Everyone...

Just a side note. I have a close personal friend who I play guitar with.
In the '80's he and his writing partner used to go up to Skunk's house in
LA. I think Skunk was helping them on some projects they were working on.

Anyway, my friend tells me they go up there one day and Skunk tells them
that the Doobies were talking about getting back together and how much money
it might mean and my friend and his partner were like "wow, that's really
cool" and everything; and then they started asking about the other Doobies,
and my friend's partner says something about Michael McDonald.

My friend said that Skunk's entire demeanor changed; he got rather quiet
and very quickly the conversation changed.

His telling me this story all came about as a result of our watching VH1's
BTM on the Doobies. He says now, after all these years, he finally
understands why Skunk reacted the way he did.

I thought this was a pretty cool side note!

Today while Christmas shopping at a local department store, I thought it was
interesting to here "Just In Time" on the
in-store sound system. Then a short time later while back in my car one of
the local classic rock stations, 97.3 WEEG, announced Skunk's birthday and
played "Black Water"

Jeff Skunk Baxter Interview

2000-08-16 Thread Ryan Smith

Doobies Fans,

I had some trouble uploading the file tomy
website. So, the interview is not available. But you can check out www.wbap.com the radio station that
broadcasts the program that Skunk was on to see if they have program archives.
It's called the Mark Davis Show. I sincerely apologize for this
inconvenience.

2000-08-15 Thread Ryan Smith

Doobies Fans,

As you know, Jeff Baxter has recently become involved in the political
arena. About 20 minutes ago, he was interviewed on the Mark Davis program.
The entire interview did not last more than about 15 minutes. I was
fortunate enough to be able to tape it. For those of you who might be
interested in a copy of the interview, I will post an mp3 of it on my
website in the next day or so.

Re: Where oh Where can Skunk and Tiran Be

2000-06-30 Thread Gary Banton

Hi Gerry!

Tiran is playing and recording with local bands in the San Francisco/San
Jose area. He can often be seen playing at local San Jose area bars. He is
very happy doing this

As far as I am aware, Skunk is still working with guitar FX companies as
well as doing work for the Pentagon in the Ballistic Missile area!

Hope this helps,

Gary (The Limey Doobie!)

During the winter, there was news making the rounds that Skunk was going to
run for Congress, I think in California. Does anyone know if that's still
the case? Evidently, he's very knowledgable about defense and nuclear
issues.
