i think i remember some one saying that windows 8 dosent dual boot with linux because of some new feature called secure boot, maybe that could be related. Rgds Ken While I can't answer your question, have you looked at trying Super Grub Disk (www.supergrubdisk.org), it is a downloadable image that boots from dvd\cd and can repair grub. I used to repair a grub boot problem I had a while back although that was not a dual boot problem though.
