Re: [Dorset] Web Kiosk OS
You'll find a lot out there. I even made a few back at the time that Web OS's were cool - to go along with Bibud... There are plenty - e.g. Webconverger, or even just a slim version of Debian. -- Next meeting: Bournemouth, Tuesday, 2013-10-01 20:00 Meets, Mailing list, IRC, LinkedIn, ... http://dorset.lug.org.uk/ New thread on mailing list: mailto:dorset@mailman.lug.org.uk How to Report Bugs Effectively: http://goo.gl/4Xue

Tim The company that I used to work for(13 years ago) had a standalone kiosk based on NT-4. Because it was easy to tie everything down and limit access to the browser. That seems to me to be the bit that you need to know for creating one in Linux, and I don't know enough about setting up the security to do that. NAtionwide BS have kiosks in their branches like that. I wonder what flavour of MS product they use? Simon wrote: There is a well used Linux / Open Source solution: http://webconverger.com/ I think Chrome can also start up in a kiosk mode, as can a Chromebook. I couldn't find much good documentation on it though.
