Re: FW: [DQSD-Users] errors with quick search
When I got similar errors I fixed it by uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling DQSD. Save your preferences files first. B.J. Re: [DQSD-Users] javascript error in search.htm (XP)
I had this problem a couple of times. I think I may have had two DQSD toolbars at the same time. I fixed my problem by saving my preferences then uninstalling and reinstalling DQSD. B.J. Re: [DQSD-Users] dqsd doesn't seem to honor the default browser (XP)
Sorry for the message. John Bairen pointed me to the FAQ and the whole sequence with SetBrowser did the trick. Now I'm using Firebird and free of the IE-related hangs. Only one annoyance left -- the time doesn't show up in the window until I click in the taskbar. I fooled around with the delay and display help settings and those didn't seem to fix the problem. B.J. At 20:51 09-10-2003 -0400, you wrote: Using XP Home and a version of dqsd installed today everything seems to get launched in IE, no matter what the default browser is set to. I tried setting the default browser with the XP start bar menu item to control settings, and from the browsers as well. Either way I set the default browser the XP address bar would launch URLs in the default browser but dqsd would use IE. I tried changing launchmode from 2 to 1 but that didn't have any effect. Any suggestions for dealing with this problem? (Suggestion for enhancement: Allow a browser to be specified other than IE or the system default browser.) By the way, thanks for making this tool available. I have wanted something like this for a while and today I finally went searching for it and was glad to find it. B.J. -- B.J. Re: [DQSD-Users] explorer hangs when trying to search
I installed the toolbar today. I played around with it at work with Windows 2000 server and noticed some hangs, and then again noticed hangs with XP Home this evening. During the hangs at home I noticed that the dqsd time hangs (I added seconds to the time display). I have the latest IE update installed on both systems. B.J. Only when I kill it the new page is loaded. I'm having similar problems - I thought it was my new firewall - but it could very well be related to DQSD. :/ I can third this. I use win 2000, and IE6. Me too. Surprise!, Me too. I really should spend more time in Firebird ;) Have you been to Windows Update recently? This could be related to that IE6 rollup patch that was released last week. If you have - let me know so I can do a little more research on that rollup. If you mean 'October 2003, Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (KB828750)' then i don't have that installed and i still see the same behaviour as you two do. IE shows: IE Version: 6.0.2800.1106 Update versions: SP1; Q324929, Q810847, Q813951, Q813489; Q330994; Q818529; Q822925 It does seem to be a pretty recent thing but i spend most of my time in Firebird these days so i can't pin point a time.
