The meter on my WV-4 is broken. Does anyone know where I can buy a meter.
Maybe it will be easier to buy a whole unit.

Thanks for reading this.

Well,
I replaced U9013 on the DR-7 Board and it has now been running for 7 hours
without a blip. U9013 was the culprit (thermal intermittent) on the DR7 and
was found with freeze mist and alot of patience. Thanks much to Bill for
sending me one of his stock parts for this repair. The IC is a 10138 ECL
chip which is hard to come by these days unless you want to but a dozen or
more. Thanks to the Drakelist for helping me out on this repair, and of
course Bill! VIVA TR7!!!

Regards,
Mike W4DL

Hi Garey,

I found it a bit hard to explain it, but the way you describe it is exactly
what I mean! We are definitely hearing "the other side". Strange that both
our TR7's have the same thing, but we will check the -5V and the pindiodes!
Thanks for the suggestions Garey!

Dick -

If you are saying what I think you're saying, the ultimate rejection of
all the filters is specified as greater than 100 dB. IF the passband
tuning is set correctly, either variable or the five pots up on the
power supply board, you should NOT hear the "other side" of zero beat!

I would suspect the -5V supply (actually ~-3.5V) or the MPN3404 PIN
diodes that switch the filters in and out.

[drakelist] TR7 X-talfilter bandpass

2005-03-05 Thread Dick Harms PA2DW

Hi all,

Yesterday I worked on the TR7 of Evert/PA2KW who had a loss of 20
dB of receiver gain. It appeared that the J310 on the second filter PWB did not
get its supply, because the 47 Ohm resistor in the drain was "cracked". Hard to
see, but easy to measure...

After we but back the TR7 in service, we
listened the band on CW with both the 250 and 500 Hz filter. Evert has had a TR7
before and he recalled that the bandpass in CW on his previous TR7 was better.
What we noticed is that the CW signal was audible at both sides of the zero-beat
point. The difference between the signal that was within the filtercurve and the
one that should be out of that, was only 20 dB. We adjusted the PBT carefully
but that gave no improvement. At home I checked my own TR7 and it appeared
almost the same! On my R4C it was however much much better, certainly when
I switched on the Sherwood 600 Hz roofing filter of course.
Now the question is, is this indeed normal on the TR7? Or do Evert
and I have some problem in the x-tal filter?..
Any info is most wellcome.

[drakelist] Drake 2B front panel removal

2005-03-05 Thread DW Holtman

Hello,

I'm in the middle of removing the front panel from
a Drake  2B. Everything is off except the Pass band selector switch (the
pointer for .5, 2.1 and 3.6 khZ). I cannot see anyway to remove it to remove
the pointer short of  the completely disassembling  the  passband assemby.
That is something that I don't want to do. Has anyone removed the front panel
before?

Thank you in advance.

Morning Guys,
Anybody on the list have any experience running a gas powered AC
generator on a boat?...A buddy and I are putting a /mm field day
operation together on my 20ft pontoon boat this year...Anchored in the
middle of the lake, multi-band vertical clamped to the rail, you get the
idea...Anyway, what things do we have to consider with respect to AC
ground?...We don't want to go QRP with batteries, or use the boat's 12V
system and just let the outboard idle for 24 hours...Any thoughts?

[drakelist] TR-3 PTO not working

2005-03-05 Thread Jim Theisen

Hi Folks

As I recover from back surgery. I am trying to
revive my newly purchased TR-3 rig.
I am getting no frequency output from the PTO. The
6AU6 tube seems ok. I am new at this and am checking Resistance and Voltage. Any
help on the best way to check for problems with the PTO would be
appreciated.
