[Drakelist] Wanted: TA-4 for SPR-4

2009-08-11 Thread Byron Tatum
Hello-
Does anyone have a model TA-4 transceive adapter for the SPR-4 receiver
that is for sale? I would like to mate an SPR-4 with a T-4XC transmitter.
Thanks,

Re: [Drakelist] T4XB Power output

Hi Bill, Drake changed the tuning procedure from the manuals a while
ago because of FCC regulations. If you are tuning for max you are
possible in violation of FCC regulations. Your power out seems a
little high to me. Here is a link to that information.

Guys,

A couple of questions to the experts. I have a 4B line which
I really enjoy - they work excellent although I haven't tried them
on SSB because I have a TR4C for that! I am getting about 155 watts
output out the T4XB - I always get the most when I run the load
control

more positive, just like with an amplifier! What are good numbers
for the T4XB for output? I get slightly over 200 watts out of the
TR4C. Of course the TR4C has 3 finals instead of 2!

Next question is this - I generally tune up for max power out using
plate, then load control and double check When I have my gain all
the way up of course I get more out up until saturation point. This
usually requires a higher setting on the load control. By the way I
use the wattmeter in my MN2000 to measure this! After I tune for max
I usually back down gain control so that I am running about 100 watts
out or sometimes less - I never run it wide open. Should I leave the
load control at the max setting or lower it some to get more out
with less gain?? Am I hurting anything by leaving the gain set higher?

Thanks for all the answers!

Bill N4ZI

ps If some one has a TR4CW without the RIT in nice shape for a
reasonable

price I might be interested! I already have RV4C so don't need RIT!!

Re: [Drakelist] experience with TR-7 CW filter

2009-08-11 Thread Mike Williams
I use the 500 Hz filter and it is more than adequate; Inrad makes excellent
products.

I've got the 400hz InRad (I think that's it) and it's quite narrow. I
can't imagine needing more narrow than that.

I note no excessive loss with the 400hz Inrad or the 500hz Drake...

you guys out there have experience with that narrow filter. Does it ring
excessively or have excessive insertion loss? Also, would you recommend
an new InRad filter rather than a used Drake original filter?
