[Drakelist] 2AC Calibrator Broken
A recently purchased 2B included a 2AC calibrator. When received, the calibrator had unplugged during shipment and broke the 6BZ6 oscillator tube. Replacing the tube didn't fix the calibrator. For such a simple circuit am suspecting the shock also broke the crystal. Curt - While it's certainly possible that the crystal was damaged, it's unlikely. The calibrator only has four pins to hold it in, and once it comes loose the tube isn't that hard to break. Are you sure the 6BZ6 you have is a good one? Seems elementary, but is the tube getting hot?! If you have another crystal in an HC-6/U package, the lower the frequency the better, does it oscillate? Try measuring the voltages on the tube socket. I have a nice 2B from an estate. Works well. It was obviously someones baby. I just don't have room. Asking $95 (what I have in it) plus shipping.
