[Drakelist] T4XC drive

2010-01-07 Thread Rick Tucker
Last night, my T4XC was providing full output on cw regardless of where the
drive control was set -- even all the way CCW. Normally, on cw you have to
advance it beyond 12 o'clock for full drive. I checked and double checked all
switch settings, etc. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Rick

Hi Rick,

Sounds to me like your finals are ...taking off somehow, i.e.
oscillating...

What does the monitored signal sound like...? Is it exactly as displayed on
the frequency dial...? Is it raspy-sounding / unstable...?

Those are all sure-fire indicators that you have an instability issue with
your rig there!

Rick -

Check R105 and R106 and associated wiring for continuity and value. If
R105 opens at the bottom (ground) end, R106 or its wiring open up,
full drive regardless of GAIN control setting.

[Drakelist] FS: Unique Drake Service Supplement CDs

2010-01-07 Thread Garey Barrell

Here is the information that Drake left out of their manuals!

Unique supplemental service information CDs available for the Drake TR-4, TR-4C/Cw/CwRIT, B and C
Lines and the 2-B receiver.

High resolution color photos of the under chassis and individual PC boards of each unit, with all
parts identified and keyed to a parts list make it easy to locate any component. No more trying to
trace wires through bundles, etc. This information is not available elsewhere and really makes a
difference in servicing these units.

These CDs are NOT just scans of the original manuals that were included with the equipment when new.
High resolution scans of the original manuals ARE on the CDs, along with scans of manuals for
associated equipment such as the C-4, FS-4, MN2000, L-4B, W-4, etc.

Samples of these pages (at reduced resolution) and purchase information are at
www.k4oah.com.

Re: [Drakelist] tr-7 readout replacement

2010-01-07 Thread Carel PA0CMU

Hi Dale,

Thanks for the complements. Honour goes to my good friend Rien - PA0TRT, I only
placed the info on my homepage.

I've
never heard of a puller for the DR-7 board. I use this one by pulling
the rear side of the board first, after disconnecting all wired
connectors. In my TR7 there is enough space to remove the complete
board carefully without unfastening the front or other parts.

Carel.

I noticed the tool for pulling the board loose...good idea? should not be
hard to fabricate,or is there a better way.

A classic metal PC slot cover works very well as a puller for the DR-7.

I will vouch for Gary's fine work . It is the heart and soul of the hobby.
I bought the TR-4C-rit and C-line CDs. Aside from the utility, they are
great to just look at. The additional files on Adverts. and Brochures are
also great to read.

Re: [Drakelist] tr-7 readout replacement

2010-01-07 Thread Jim Shorney

This is the page that I used to make my copy of the Drake board puller. It
works well for the plugin cards, and is a must-have. For the DR-7, I still
recommend a PC slot cover. They work as if designed for that task.
